Welcome to the memorial page for

Gertrude M. (Hughes) Haven

April 24, 1922 ~ October 28, 2017 (age 95)

Gertrude M. Haven formerly of Lenox Dale, MA died at the home of her Daughter, Shelly in Utah on October 28, 2017 due to age and natural causes.  She was born in Pittsfield, MA on April 24, 1922 to Alice Q. Hughes and Edward M. Hughes.  She had 2 Sisters, Edwina A. Hughes who died in 2009 and Sandra Hughes Cher now residing in FL.

Trudy grew up in FL, New York and MA.  The family traveled back and forth during the year as her father was a chauffeur and was required to move about with his employer.  Trudy graduated from St Paul’s High School in Daytona FL.  She always said she was a southern gal at heart because she loved the warm weather better than the cold winters of the North.   She was a long time member of St Vincent de Paul Church in Lenox Dale.  Mom’s favorite past time was to plant and care for her Roses.  She also loved animals and wanted so much to save them all from harm.

She met her husband, Peter in Lenox and they married in 1944.  She worked at Lenox Machine Company as a payroll/clerical staff.  They lived in Lenox Dale until they moved to Melbourne, FL after retirement.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter, in 2005.  They had 3 children: Keith Haven, deceased (2017), Christina A. Russell (John) of Connecticut and Michele Schneeweis (Joel) from Utah.

She is survived by her daughters, Chris and Michele, her grandchildren, Maureen Johnson, Robert Russell (Jennifer), Jennifer Schneeweis-LaRene (Jude), David Schneeweis, Jennifer Johnson (Tim), and Peter Haven.  Also she leaves behind her 8 great grandchildren, Connor and Riley Johnson, Isaiah and Mira Schneeweis LaRene, Eli and Oliver Russell, Casey Lund and Jeremy Haven.  We will always miss her.  She was our rock and support

There will be a Memorial Service for her at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Lenox Dale, MA on November 13, 2017, at 9:30 AM followed by internment at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Lenox, MA.   Family and friends are invited to a reception at the St. Ann’s Family Center after the burial.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local Humane Society or charity of your choice.
