Valeea CrowtherFebruary 14, 1926 ~ July 6, 2017 (age 91)
Our dear mother, Valeea Crowther, returned to her Heavenly Father on Thurs., July 6, 2017 in So. Jordan, Utah. Born Feb 14, 1926 to Joseph and Myrle Crowther in Yost, Utah.
Valeea was raised by a single mother who supported herself by teaching school in Carbon County, Utah, so she moved several times as a young child. She also spent multiple summers at her Aunt Bessie and Uncle Georges’ ranch just outside of Swan Valley, ID, a place she loved like few others. She graduated from Bear River High School and attended BYU.
Valeea was an accomplished violinist who played from her early youth until quite late in her life, and she played virtually whenever and wherever asked. From church meetings, to weddings and funerals, to events where a violin trio she played with were the background music for a formal evening, her talents were always shared with joy and love.
Valeea was also a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life. She has the unique distinction of having served two full-time missions for the Church, one in the Eastern States Mission and the other in the Australia Mission, before marrying. She also served as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple.
Valeea married Nyle Mangum on Sept. 21, 1955. They were later divorced. She is survived by three sons, Alan (Linda), Wayne and Bryce (Judy), Mangum; she also has eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Midvale on Sunday, July 9, from 6-8:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at the Brigham City Cemetery on Monday, July 10 at 12:00 PM.
