Verla Jean (Wilding) WilsonMarch 19, 1953 ~ November 6, 2017 (age 64)
Our beloved mother, wife, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend to everyone returned to live with her Father in Heaven on November 6, 2017, after so courageously battling pancreatic cancer. Such sweet joy for her, such bittersweet tears for those who were touched by her love.
Verla was born March 19, 1953, the oldest of six children born to Verle Knight Wilding and Ruth Nadean Ard Wilding. Their family moved quite often with her father’s work. They lived in Rexburg (ID), Preston (ID), and Missoula (MT).
After graduating from Madison High School in 1971, she attended Ricks College and then BYU-Provo, achieving an Associate Degree in Child Development and Family Relations.
Verla met Greg Wilson at BYU and later married in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity on August 16, 1980. Their devotion to each other has been exemplary. One year later they welcomed their son, Daniel Brian, followed three years later by their daughter Wendy Jean.
If there was anything Greg and her children were sure of, it was Verla’s faith, patience, compassion, and unconditional eternal love for them. Not to be forgotten was her certain quirky sense of humor that kept them laughing.
A large part of Verla’s adult life was her work with Interwest Medical and Praxair. She made some of life’s closest friends through those years. Possibly her highlight of each year working there was dressing up for Halloween. Never was more thought, giggles, and detail put into costumes year after year!
In her spare time, Verla enjoyed reading, crocheting, embroidering, scrap-booking, bowling, golfing, and tying quilts for family and friends. One of her greatest joys was giving her projects to loved ones. Every project had a purpose and a bestowal of her love.
Verla cherished her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She grew and served in the gospel in many capacities. She taught every age group and served in Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society presidencies at both ward and stake levels. Perhaps one of her favorite callings was as Ward Young Women Camp Director. She truly bloomed where she was planted, put her heart into every calling, and always had love for someone in need.
She smiles from her eyes. Her smile heals, lifts, and cheers.
She is preceded in death by her mother (Nadean). She is survived by her son Daniel Wilson (Jessica), daughter Wendy Hinckley (Spencer), husband (Greg Wilson), father (Verle), siblings LeAnn Powell, Kevin Wilding, David Wilding, Janet Banta, Tenia Ricks, grandchildren Nick Frary, Chance Wilson, Alex Wilson, Zoey Hinckley, and Jack Hinckley.
