Joseph G. Christensen, 83, passed away on August 5th in Nephi, Utah. He was born on July 3, 1938, in Nephi, Utah to Allen and Enid Brough Christensen. Joe married the love of his life, Jolene Anderson, on October 21, 1960, in the Laie Hawaii Temple upon completion of his mission in the Hawaiian Islands.

He graduated from Juab High School and the Juab Stake Seminary in 1957. He then graduated from Snow College and received his bachelor's degree in history with a teaching certificate from Utah State University in 1964. In 1966, he graduated from the San Francisco School of Mortuary Science.

He taught seminary in Nephi for 32 years serving as principal for 20 of those years with his dear friends Vaughn Paxman, Paul Sutorious, Larry Ricks, and secretary, Lynelle Memmott.

Joe took an interest in the Anderson family business while dating Jolene. When they returned to Nephi after his schooling he worked closely with his father-in-law Miles Anderson at the Anderson Funeral Home. They also provided ambulance service until the county took over the service. He was a licensed funeral director for 54 years.

He was a devoted husband and father who loved and provided for his family by teaching seminary, working at the funeral home, and summer farming on the Levan ridge.

Joe served God and loved His children in many capacities. He lived a life of devotion to Jesus Christ and was loved by many.

He is survived by his wife, Jolene, sons Layne (Shauna), and Conley (Michelle), daughters Lynnette Christensen and Colette (Tim) Stephan. Joe and Jolene have 11 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters. Joe was an only child but is also survived by his missionary brother, Verl Fyfe and his blue 1953 Chevy truck.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 14th at 11:00 am in the 1, 2, 7 Ward building at 100 East 200 South in Nephi. A viewing will be held Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home, at 94 West 300 North in Nephi from 6:00-8:00 pm and one hour prior to the funeral.
