History & Staff

Goff Mortuary was established in Midvale, Utah in 1915. The original founder was Clifford I. Goff. He operated the mortuary until his son, Louis E. Goff joined him. Louis eventually purchased the mortuary from his father and with the help of friends, family and part-time employees enjoyed success.

In the early 1950's, Louis hired Gates P. Christensen and later sold him a portion of the mortuary. In the mid 1950’s, Goff Mortuary was incorporated and a new mortuary was built at 8090 S. State Street.

After the death of Louis Goff in 1971, Gates Christensen and Delworth W. Ballard purchased the mortuary from the Goff family. Eventually Gates retired and Del Ballard along with a team of licensed funeral directors and embalmers accepted the responsibility of continuing the Goff Mortuary tradition.

In January of 2011, Chad M. Anderson purchased the mortuary. Chad has worked alongside Del Ballard at Goff Mortuary since May of 2003.

The Anderson family has been involved in the funeral industry since 1866, making Chad a fifth generation funeral director and embalmer. Anderson Funeral Home 

in Nephi, Utah was established in 1866. Chad's grandfather and father, Miles Anderson & S. Mike Anderson, have served the communities of Nephi, Mona and Levan for many years.

In January of 2014, property was purchased in Draper, Utah for the construction of a second location to be called Anderson & Goff Mortuary. The property is located on the border of Sandy and Draper to better serve those who live in the south end of the Salt Lake Valley. The new facility is located at 11859 South 700 East.
