Marguerite Louise (Rushton) Thomas

December 7, 1921 ~ January 18, 2021 (age 99)

Obituary

Marguerite Louise Thomas, our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great, great grandmother passed away on Jan. 18, 2021 at the age of 99, laying down her frail body and joining her loved ones waiting to welcome her as she crossed that threshold to be with them. What a glorious and happy reunion is taking place.

Louise was born on Dec. 7, 1921 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Walter Rushton and Eva Iris Keene. She was the eldest of five children. They were very close to one another and after they were grown and married you would always find them having a good visit at mom and dad's. Mom had a special gift of making everyone feel not only comfortable but very special when in their home. You always knew you were well loved, and being the great cook that she was, there was always a tasty meal or dessert to enjoy. It was a special time in our lives to be able to connect and enjoy family and friends.

Louise and Oran met when her family moved to Heber City. Dad saw her and changed two of his classes to be in one of her classes. They married on Nov. 29, 1938 in Coalville, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They had four children, Barbara, John, Charles, and Glen.

The family loved fishing at Strawberry Lake and on the river there. We also have fond memories of our excursions to Island Park and Yellowstone.

Louise worked and retired from Evans and Sutherland. She loved working there.

Louise and Oran loved to travel with their dear friends Mary and Doug Erickson and Easy and Kay Jenson.

Louise was an excellent seamstress and a great cook, she loved to can from their large garden and many a grandchild was happy to be told, "go downstairs and get yourself a bottle of dill pickles."

Louise is survived by her daughter Barbara (Ferris) Hayes and son Charles (Kandis) Thomas, 15 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, 20 great great grandchildren.

Louise is preceded in death by her loving husband of 75 years, two sons John {Rhonda), Oran Glen, grandson Bradley Thomas, parents, 3 sisters, Hazel Brough, Mary Marnell Jarvie, Inez Phillips, and one brother Charles Rushton.

The Thomas family would like to express their gratitude and love to Lin Neff and all the staff at Legacy House of Taylorsville for the care they gave to our mom. We especially want to thank Jose Gonzales for his tenderness and watching care over mom and Jen Hyer, her aide who made sure she had what she needed. We would like to thank Wendy Selmos, her hospice nurse from Inspiration Home Health and Hospice for loving and caring for mom and Elizabeth Chela for making sure mom always looked her best.
