Lawrence Peter Sax

Lawrence Peter Sax known as “Moe” left us on the beautiful morning of April 18, 2022. Born in Bingham Canyon, Utah on March 14, 1937 to Francis Lawrence Sax and Jessie McPhee Sax.

Married JaNiece Henderson on 2/28/1958 in Copperton, Utah. Together they had two children, Bret and Kriston. Dad’s priority was making sure Mom and his family were taken care of.

A graduate of Bingham High School class of 1955 where he played football and loved his Bingham Miners, cheering them on to the end. This is what “Bingham Sons and Daughters do.” Dad sang in Bingham’s Barbershop Quartet, his love of music was endless.

A Machinist by trade, worked for Kennecott Utah Copper for 38 years, retiring in 1994. Dad received one of six best craftsman awards in the state of Utah, something we were all proud of. This was a perfect job for a man, for everything he did had to be precise. His home, garden and yard showed it.

Copperton was his home where he loved and supported his community. President of the Utah Copper Employees Credit Union and President of the Bingham Canyon Lions Club is where he loved to serve. The annual Bingham Canyon Lions Club 4th of July breakfast was his ultimate favorite time of year. From setting up tables in the early hours, firing up the griddles, drinking salty dogs and lighting up his annual cigar. Friends and family gathered at his home after to continue the day with drinks, food and BS stories (Dad would always say, “Did you bring a shovel?”) This was Dad’s day!

A collector of stamps from the age of 12 would make any Philatelist be in awe. This is something he continued to the end. An avid fisherman by heart, reeling in the “big one” was nice, but time spent on the river, lake or creek was time well spent. Golf, his retirement passion, where stories were told of “holes missed” and “balls gone wrong” made for good laughs. The day he shot a “hole in one” was the day he official “scored….FORE!”

Preceded in death by his mother and father. Survived by his children…Bret Charles Sax (Tina), Kriston Sax McDonald (Gordon), his grandchildren, Brandon Charles Sax (Debra), Colton Gordon McDonald, Duston Le McDonald, his great granddaughters Baylee Sax, Brynlee Sax, Kenzlee Sax and his sister, Marjorie Sax Davis.

We would like to thank Rose, Ellen and Nikki, Aspire Home and Hospice for their loving care of our somewhat stubborn, ornery yet oh so loving Dad. Thank you!

Dad’s body will be cremated and laid to rest at the Riverton City Cemetery. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, June 11th from 4-8 pm at the Bingham Canyon Lions Club in Copperton, Utah. For this day should not bring sorrow, but bring us together to celebrate his life. This is what Dad would want, a good time for all!

We will always “see you with one eye,” until we meet again, Te Amo Papa.
