Valoy (Beckstead) Stowe

VaLoy (Beckstead) Stowe returned home on August 31, 2022 to her Heavenly Father. She was born in South Jordan on August 29, 1933 to Royal and Koradine (Smith) Beckstead. VaLoy met her husband, Ronald in the beet fields during Midvale Harvest days back when school was let out for the students to help in the fields. While attending Jordan High School together, they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on February 15, 1951. They have been married for over 71 years.

They had four children, 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

VaLoy and Ronald served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to Little Rock, Arkansas. They were able to take their motorhome between small towns and microfilm court records for genealogical work. VaLoy served in many callings and capacities throughout her life until her dementia made it impossible.

They enjoyed many years as snowbirds traveling down to warmer climates during the winter. They enjoyed square dancing and served as presidents of the Electric Squares dance club. They taught their children the value of working hard and serving others. VaLoy worked as a money room clerk at JCPenny for many years. Ron and VaLoy ran the Wonder Federal Credit Union for several years from their home for secondary income.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald; children Rick (Renae) Stowe, Annette (Lamar) Wanberg and Royal (Carla) Stowe. Preceded in death by her son Rodney at age 7 and many other family members.

Due to health concerns, we ask that the services be for family and close friends. The interment will be at 12:30 pm at the Midvale Cemetery next to her son Rodney. We truly respect and appreciate the many friends that would have normally participated.

Ronald and the family would like to thank the IHC Hospice Group (Amber, Natalie, LeeAnn) and the staff at Legacy House of South Jordan for their loving efforts.
