Alex John Larsen

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Alex John Larsen (Sandy, Utah). He was born on April 19, 1986, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and passed away on July 15, 2025, at the age of 39, leaving to mourn family and friends.

Alex is survived by his parents John Bryan Larsen and Doris Larsen, his daughter Rylee Lee Larsen, his sister Miranda Perez (Matt), his nephew Dylan Perez and many extended family and friends.

Alex loved lure fishing and was a master of the art, hauling in big brownies from the Strawberry and Price rivers, where accurate casting was the difference between getting skunked and a full limit. Alex never got skunked.

Alex also loved sports, particularly pro football and the Denver Broncos, whom he followed with passion and deep knowledge of the sport. When the Broncos won Superbowl 50 in 2016 against Cam Newton and the Carolina Cardinals, he was beside himself with joy. Hall of Fame defensive end Von Miller was his idol.

Alex worked hard every day and made his own way in life. He was a master mechanic, brilliant troubleshooter, expert at wastewater management, and knowledgeable about many technical arts and crafts. He loved his last job at Pioneer Metal Finishing, where he worked with a merry crew of people from around the world, all of whom he respected and loved.

Alex was handsome, witty, and intelligent, with a wonderful, sweet daughter, but still fought the demons of depression and anxiety throughout his life. As a youth he loved skateboarding, and repeated concussions may have aggravated his condition. He tried to alleviate his pain with drugs and alcohol, but this strategy inevitably leads to more pain and suffering. Friends and family did their best to help him cope, particularly his beloved sister Miranda and his selfless mother Doris, but in the end nothing worked. We are crushed and heartbroken, but relieved that his sufferings are over and he is finally at peace.

A memorial service will be held on August 1, 2025, at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State, Midvale, Utah. Visitation starts at 10:00 a.m. and service starts at 11:00 a.m.
