Arne Mikal Aune passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025 at home, surrounded by family.
Arne was born June 14, 1947 in Bergen, Norway, to his loving parents Franklin and Birgith Aune. They came over to the United States when Arne was 18 months old and just learning to speak. For the next year, he hardly spoke at all, after which he would speak Norwegian in the home and English outside the home.
He was a precocious child that may or may not have lit a field and billboard on fire. He graduated from South High in Salt Lake City, UT. He served a faithful mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, going back to his homeland of Norway for 2 1/2 years. He attended college at the University of Utah, often doing little studying until he had to cram for an exam. He still had good grades, played in the marching band, and became a lifelong Ute fan. While at college, he also met and married his sweetheart, Linda Palmer.
Arne & Linda started out their married life in California, making lifelong friends. They moved back to Utah first in White City and then to Sandy where they have lived for 47 years, making great friends, working hard as a CPA, and serving in their church. He loved to read comics to his children on Saturday mornings or make Norwegian pancakes. He also loved skiing for both the adrenaline rush and building relationships. He ran in two marathons and was physically active his whole life. Even after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s, he kept fighting and loved going to Rock Steady Boxing.
The thing he loved most was his Savior Jesus Christ. He spent his whole life trying to serve him through his ward callings, temple service, and a senior mission to Las Cruces, New Mexico with his eternal companion. He said, “Wherever the Lord needs me to lay frames to build the kingdom, I will be there.”
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; Three children Rachelle, Mikal, and Corrinn; Their spouses; and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Frank.
We would like to thank all the angels that have helped including family, friends, Inspiration Hospice, and the brothers and sisters of the Alta View Ward.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 30th from 11 AM to 12:15 PM. Viewings will be Friday, August 29th from 6-8 PM, and Saturday, August 30th from 10 to 10:45 AM. All services will be at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 1850 E 8600 S, Sandy, UT 84093. Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 S 200 W, Bountiful, UT 84010.
