Arthur Joseph Hobbs

Arthur Joseph Hobbs, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away August 23rd, 2026, at the age of 79. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and devotion to family.

Arthur served faithfully in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a missionary and in many other callings throughout his life. He had a strong testimony of the Savior and found great joy in serving others, and some of his most treasured opportunities were those that allowed him to share the gospel with the youth in his community and teach outdoorsmanship at the same time.

Caring for young people was a common thread throughout his life. Professionally, he worked for the State of Utah as a Juvenile Case Manager, where he dedicated himself to helping young people who were facing difficult circumstances and challenges in their lives. He cared deeply about the youth he worked with and believed in their ability to overcome and grow. His work was more than a profession for him; it was another opportunity to encourage, guide, and make a difference in the lives of young people who needed someone in their corner.

That same commitment to youth was evident in his many years of service in the Church and his involvement with the Boy Scouts of America. He had a special ability to connect with young people and found great satisfaction in teaching, encouraging, and helping them recognize their own potential. In recognition of his dedicated service to scouting and the youth of his community, he was honored with the Boy Scouts of America District Award of Merit.

Those who knew Arthur will also remember his wonderful sense of humor. He was a gifted storyteller who could hold a room’s attention, usually with a story that grew a little more entertaining with each telling. And when something struck him as especially funny, there was no mistaking his big, unmistakable laugh—a laugh that was contagious and will be dearly missed. He also had a knack for giving people nicknames. His children, family members, friends, and just about anyone who spent enough time around him were likely to end up with a nickname of their own. Some were silly, some stuck for years, and all were given with affection. To his children especially, those nicknames became their own little expressions of Dad’s love and a cherished part of being his family. He also loved the comedy movies of the ’80s and ’90s and seemed to have an endless supply of movie lines committed to memory. He had a special knack for pulling out just the right quote at just the right moment, often making an ordinary situation unexpectedly hilarious. For his family, those perfectly timed movie quotes became another unmistakable and much-loved part of Arthur’s sense of humor.

At the heart of Arthur’s life was his love for his wife, Jhuvie Supnet Hobbs. He loved and cherished her deeply, and the life they shared together brought him tremendous happiness. They especially loved traveling together, setting out on adventures, discovering new places, and simply enjoying one another’s company along the way. Whether the destination was somewhere new or familiar, what mattered most was that they were experiencing it together. Their travels brought plenty of fun, laughter, stories, and treasured memories that became an important part of the life they built side by side. Jhuvie was his beloved companion and partner in life, and the memories they made together were among his greatest treasures.

Arthur also had a lifelong love of the outdoors, instilled at a young age through the hunting adventures he enjoyed with his father and brothers. That love of wildlife and the outdoors helped shape the direction of his early life. He earned a Master of Wildlife Science degree from Utah State University and began his career working for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources. His appreciation for the outdoors remained with him throughout his life. Some of his happiest moments were spent hunting, camping, fishing, and golfing, especially when his sons and grandchildren were by his side. For him, these outings were about much more than the hunt or the catch. They were opportunities to spend time together, tell stories, teach lessons, laugh, and create memories that his family will carry with them for years to come.

He will be deeply missed, but his family finds comfort in the gospel of Jesus Christ that he loved and lived throughout his life, and in the knowledge that family relationships continue beyond this life.

Arthur is survived by his cherished wife, Jhuvie; his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and his two brothers, Jim (Robyn) Hobbs and Frank (Judy) Hobbs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Barbara Hobbs; and his brother Stan.

A viewing will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Sunday, August 30th, 2026, at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street Midvale, UT 84047. A small graveside service will be held for family and close friends on Monday, August 31st, 2026, at Crescent Cemetery, 11105 S. State St., Sandy.
