Aurelius Brian Fitzgerald

Aurelius Brian Fitzgerald passed away peacefully on February 10th, 2026 at the age of 72, surrounded by his loving family.

Brian was born in Draper, Utah to Aurelius Brown (A.B.) Fitzgerald and Ruth Anderson. Brian lived much of his life in the Draper area. He graduated from high school in Moses Lake, Washington. He worked a summer in Zion National Park where he met his best friend, and eventual wife, Kristie.

Brian was known for his love of music, sharp wit, steady presence, generous heart, love of movies and sweet treats. He built a career as a clinical counselor working at Primary Children’s Hospital, where he was respected for his ability to connect with those he worked with and the families he cared for. He felt great responsibility ensuring his patients felt seen, heard, and valued.

Above all, Brian was devoted to his family. He is survived by Kristie Smith Fitzgerald, his beloved wife, who affectionately referred to him as Bernard; his children, Emily Cahoon (Joe) and Robert Fitzgerald; and his 2 granddaughters, Zoey Kate Fitzgerald, and Nora Jo Cahoon. They brought him immense pride and joy. He is also survived by his sisters Orene Angell, Colleen Winkler and Kathy Fullmer and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Brian enjoyed musicals, plays, reading, traveling to Cancun, sitting in the yard, going to the movies, fine dining (always saving room for dessert), and spending time with family and friends. He had a gift for mentoring, making people laugh, creating movie ticket origami, piano playing, and will be remembered for the way he made others feel — valued, supported, important and loved.

A celebration of his life will be held at The Studio located in Draper, Utah on February 28th at 11AM.

Brian’s legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and the family he cherished. He will be deeply missed and remembered forever.
