Benito Lopez

October 10, 1945 — April 8, 2023

Benito Lopez

Benito Reyes Lopez, age 77, passed away April 8, 2023 at home surrounded by family. He had a brief sickness with a rare pneumonia.

Ben was born on October 10, 1945 to Andrieta Lopez and Cornelio Lopez. He was born in Sante Fe, New Mexico.

In 1974 Ben married Ramona O. Lopez in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ben and Ramona went on to have two children, Benita and Ruben.

Ben retired as a plumber, after he spent his time golfing and pampering his yard. Every summer he would get an award from the city honoring him for the best yard on the block, he took great pride in his yard. The joke was, if he could vacuum his grass he would.

Ben had his staples that we all knew him by. He had to have his cokes, candy, ice cream and cigarettes. He refused to leave home without wearing his levis and boots. For those that knew Ben he was constantly making jokes, one of his favorite things was to call you by a different name. Ben could be found daily watching his favorite T.V. shows including Family Feud, The Price is Right, Let's Make A Deal, and Everybody Loves Raymond while sneaking food to the dogs.

Even though Ben was not able to golf as much as he wanted as he grew older we hope he is now getting in some good games. Ben loved listening to music, a few a his favorites were Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and Antonio Aguilar. He also enjoyed singing and playing his guitar.

Ben was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He proudly served in the Army from 1966-1968. Ben was honorably discharged through his undying comittment to serve his country. The Army molded him and instilled values that made him the man he was.

Ben loved his grandchildren whom he specifically called my Jane, my Aubree, and my Alex. Watching baseball, going to breakfast and watching game shows will never be the same. We will miss your attitude, stubborness and being the best rebel you could be.

He is survived by his children Benita (Tommy) Fox and Ruben (Michelle) Lopez, 3 grandchildren Cydnee, Aubree, and Alex, his sisters Susie Madrid, Mercy (Tommy) Gonzales, Virginia Lopez, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and extended family members.

Ben is preceded in death by his was wife Ramona Lopez, parents Cornelio and Andrieta Lopez, and 9 brothers & sisters.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to his home health ladies, Daphne, Gaylene and Danielle.

A rosary will be held April 19th at 5:00 pm, a viewing from 6 to 7 pm, and a eulogy to follow from 7-8 at Goff Mortuary. Funeral services will be held April 20th at St. Therese Catholic Church at 11 am. Graveside services to follow at Midvale Cemetery.
