Beverly Hutchings

Our Joy was a gentle but mighty force. A great conversationalist, charming and inquisitive, she used her boundless humor, kindness, and talents to elevate everyone around her. No problem was too big, no road too long, and no mountain pass too harrowing. She cherished learning about and sharing her Danish heritage and ancestry. She was a treasure chest of stories and memories, and she shared them with such detail and purpose so as to bring them to life. She was giving, selfless, and used her abundant creativity to turn everyday moments into fun and memorable experiences. She loved deeply and was fiercely protective. Working to care for and strengthen family and community bonds is where she found her greatest joy.

Beverly Joyce Anderson Hutchings was born in 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah, enjoying a childhood of neighborhood play and activity. Moving to South Jordan, she attended Jordan High School where she met, and later married, the love of her life, finding companionship for more than sixty years. She earned a scholarship for beauty school and became a licensed cosmetologist, but quickly chose to become an at-home mother and to put her innumerable skills to work there and in complementary volunteer work. She is a beautiful example and will be greatly missed.

Beverly is preceded in death by her husband Larry, daughter Brenda, parents Andrew and Lillian, and siblings Bob, Andrew, and Carole. She is survived by her children Sheri (Jeff), Suzie (Jeff), David (Angela), Diana (Daniel), and Charlene, and many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023.
