Bruce Orlando Jensen

Our wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather Bruce Orlando Jensen passed away at the age of 87 on December 12, 2025 surrounded by loved ones in his daughter’s home in Wanship Utah.

Bruce was born in Wapello, Idaho on January 6, 1938 to Orlando C Jensen and Viola Nelson.

He graduated from South High School in May 1956 and from active duty with the RFA Regiment 5th Infantry Division in August 1956.

He served an honorable mission in Rio de Janeiro for 2 ½ years in 1958 for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. During his time, he re-designed missionary lesson curriculum, which was approved and adopted by the entire mission. He also served as impromptu translator for President David O. McKay during one of the prophet’s visits.

He married his darling sweetheart, Sharon Russell, on July 22, 1962 in the Manti Utah Temple, and they shared a happy, loving marriage for 60 years, during which time they brought their children Robert and Sonia into this world.

He worked for Atkinson Wrecker and Supply crushing cars where he earned his CB handle of “Crusher”. He was a diesel mechanic for Cummins International and then drove Semi Trucks for Martin Door Mfg. and retired from them at the age of 69.

Dad loved spending time with his family, whether at home or abroad. Many of the best memories are of boating and camping trips to Lake Powell, Yuba and Starvation Reservoir, as well as trips to Little Sahara Sand Dunes with their custom, hand-built Sand-rails.

Memories shared by family and friends showcase his selfless, giving, and kind-hearted nature. Whether it was helping his son build his truck, building go-karts, repairing cars, handcrafting knives or leatherwork, going to Iceberg for milkshakes, or simply clearing off someone’s car following a storm, he was always caring for those he loved, ensuring that their needs were met, and their hearts were full. Thank you for letting us care for you in the end and making sure your needs were met.

He is survived by his son, Robert Jensen, daughter Sonia (Jon) Hellander, six grandchildren, JR (Lydia) Hellander, Cody (Victoria) Hellander, Trystin (Emily) Hellander, Porter (Kim) Hellander, Harley Hellander, and Rielly Hellander, six great-grandchildren, Hazel Mae, Lily Ruth, Trystin Monte, Mathew Bruce, Charlee Jon, Olivia Grace.

He is preceded in death by his mother, father, sisters and the love of his life, his wife. The family would like to thank his wonderful nurses, Rory, Shauna and Jacklyn, at Quality Home Health and Hospice for their selfless service and all the love and kindness they gave to our father and grandfather.

A viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 18, 2025 and again from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025 at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State Street. Grave dedication will conclude at the Midvale City Cemetery, 450 West 7500 South., Midvale Utah.
