Byron LaMont Smith our loving Father, husband, grandfather, and great grandfather left this mortal life and returned home on July 3rd, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. LaMont was born in Salt Lake City, UT on June 29th, 1936 to Charles Lyle Smith and Lucille Marion Johnson Smith. LaMont married Sue Ann Lloyd on April 7th, 1961 in Draper, UT, and was later sealed for Time and All Eternity in the Oakland Temple. They had 2 children, Julie and Karen. LaMont was a Veteran of the Navy where he served as a Radar Tech. He was mainly stationed in Japan, however his Vessel traveled all over the world.

The family lived in California and moved to Utah in 1979. They settled in Draper where all their relatives lived. LaMont worked hard at providing for his family. He retired from working for the IRS. He then worked as an accountant and a City Councilman for the City of Draper. Until his passing he still helped Draper City with their Arts Council.

LaMont had a passion for education, guns, cooking, motorcycles, and rebuilding his Jeep. LaMont built a large woodshop on his property for his family and friends to enjoy. He loved people and was always happy to help them whenever needed.

LaMont enjoyed being with his family, U of U games, debating and loved music. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, LaMont served in various positions. Two of his favorite positions were Counselor in the Bishopric and Scout Master.

He is survived by his wife Sue Ann Smith, one daughter Julie Hansen (David), 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and his sister Colleen Black. He is survived by so many loving extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter Karen, Parents, and brothers Kent and Keith.

A viewing will be held on Friday July 12th from 6-8 pm at the Anderson & Goff Mortuary located at 11859 South 700 East, Draper, UT 84020. There will be another viewing on Saturday July 13th from 10-11am at the LDS church located at 13006 South Boulter Street, Draper, UT, with the funeral following at 11:00. He will be buried at Draper City Cemetery that same day.
