Carolyn Crawford Lyon

Carolyn Crawford Lyon passed away on June 29, 2026. She was born on February 10, 1958, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to her parents, Verla Berry and Lloyd Crawford. She was married to the late Eric Edman Sturgeon on March 25, 1983, and together they raised three children, Kelly, Alaina and Teresa.

Carolyn was a graduate of South High School in Salt Lake City, Utah. She held several different careers in her early adulthood before finding her niche building long-lasting client relationships in Commercial Lines Insurance for 30 years. Outside of work, you could always count on finding Carolyn engrossed in reading many different genres of novels. Carolyn had an eclectic taste in music that matched her passion for reading; her tastes spanned the entire musical spectrum, and she enjoyed many live musical performances in her day. Throughout her life, Carolyn was known for her beautiful knit and crochet projects, including sweaters, Afghans, and ornate blessing gowns. Many of these treasured projects have been loved and used by multiple generations.

She is survived by her sisters: Lynda Donio, Mary Crawford, and Annette Wright. Her children: Kelly Crawford, Alaina Valentine, and Teresa Brough. Her grandchildren: Oliver Valentine, Benjamin Brough, and Spencer Brough. Carolyn will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and playful sense of humor.

Services will be held on Monday, July 13th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Anderson and Goff Mortuary, 11859 South 700 East, Draper, UT 84020. Public visitation will take place at 6:00 PM with the funeral beginning at 7:00 PM.
