Catherine Elaine Bodell passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, August 25, 2025 in Delta, Utah. She was born in Murray Utah on October 4, 1931 to Daniel Thayne and Catherine Cuthbert Gerber. She was raised in the Salt Lake Valley and would later graduate from Granite HIgh School. In her free time she enjoyed knitting baking, reading, and gargening. Elaine’s love for gardening started at a young age. Her parents had an orchard and garden where they would grow tomatoes, corn and cantaloupe. When her parents would be away her brother Neil and her would sell the very small cantaloupes for one cent in front of their home.
After high school Elaine worked at Mountain Bell as a switchboard operator for 5 years and later, she would work at 3P printing until her retirement in the early 2000s. She would later meet her husband, Larry Trussler Bodell, through friends. They would eventually marry in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 12, 1952. In the years that followed they would welcome 3 children. They would raise their family in Sandy, Utah, creating many lasting friendships and memories along the way.
Elaine was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, spending her life as a devoted disciple of The Savior. She had various callings throughout her lifetime but being with the kids in primary was among her favorites.
Elaine’s honored role was that of wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family brought her so much joy in her life. She was always finding ways to tirelessly serve those that she loved and was an example of Christlike love to all of us.
She is survived by her children, Marci Bodell, Leesa Pasquin, Kevan (MayRene) Bodell and Foster Son Ken Nunley. She has 5 grandchildren, Adam, Angela, Teanette, Anthony, Amber and 5 great-grandchildren, Keslee, Kylie, Keaton, Khloe, and Axel.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband Larry, her parents, brothers Niel and Gordon, sister Dana, and stepmother Marie Gerber.
A viewing will be held prior to the graveside services on Friday, August 22nd from 12-1 PM at Goff Mortuary. Interment and graveside services will be at 1:30 at Larkin Cemetery, 1950 East 10600 South Sandy, Utah under the direction of Goff Mortuary.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to those who helped care for her in her later years. A special thank you to Dr. Spencer Nielson, Wendy Stevens and all the staff at Millard Care and Rehab who loved and cared for her.
