Christian David Wright Sr.

Cottonwood Heights, UT – Christian David Wright Sr., 81, passed away on Tuesday, April 29th 2025, at his home in Cottonwood Heights, UT. He was born on January 15, 1944 to Gordon and Viola Wright in Torrance, CA.

He married the love of his life, Delphine Walker, on June 22, 1963, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 22, 1973. The two met on a blind date in high school and went on to share a beautiful life together, celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary before Delphine’s passing. Both were raised in California, where their love story began, and shortly after starting their family, they moved to Iona, Idaho—Delphine’s birthplace—to settle down and raise their children. They were blessed with four children: Chris Jr., Cheree’, Chad, and Cathy. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a steady example of faith and dedication.

Chris was hardworking from a young age. At 12 years old, he started his own landscaping business and soon after became a skilled butcher. Following high school, he pursued further education to learn the craft of tile setting—an art he would carry with him throughout his life. Chris built a successful tile business known for its precision and quality, often leaving his mark in the homes of family and friends with his meticulous touch. In addition to his tile work, he also worked in a bank handling construction loans, which brought him and his family to Salt Lake City, UT, later becoming an insurance agent, always balancing his various careers with dedication and care.

He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served faithfully throughout his life in many callings. This includes High Priest group leadership, Executive Secretary to the Bishop, Stake Sunday School President, and Stake High Councilor. He had a deep love for the gospel and exemplified Christlike love. Chris found great joy in service and spent his time cheerfully helping others.

Chris had a deep love for his family. He enjoyed music and singing in the church choir, was an avid sports fan with a special love for the BYU Cougars, and cherished time spent fishing and working in the yard. He was known for his love of ice cream, and for his gift of conversation—always ready to visit with friends and neighbors. Above all, Chris was known as “the helper,” always eager to serve those around him with kindness and humility.

Chris is survived by his children, Chris Jr, Cheree’, Chad (Julie), Cathy, and his grandchildren, Sean and Courtnie. Sean was his right hand man, Courtnie was his sweetheart, and both of them together brought him the most joy imaginable. He is also survived by his brother Steve (Miriam), Janet, Johnny (Geri), Karen (Donny), Walda (Robert), and many nieces and nephews. And we can’t leave out his four legged buddies, Harry and Sally.

The funeral services will be held Monday, May 5th, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., at the Whitmore Ward church building, 6890 S. Whitmore Way, Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121. Prior to the funeral, a visitation will be held from 10:00-10:40 a.m. also at the church. Interment following the services will be at the Iona, Idaho Cemetery.
