Christine Marie (Huntley) Osborn

Our beautiful mom and grandmother Christine (Chris) Huntley Osborn passed away peacefully surrounded by her children and their supportive spouses on June 13, 2025 at 11:26 PM at Intermountain Medical Center. She was 77 years old and had been courageously battling various health issues for many years. She was love, devotion, artistic talent, and spunk all wrapped up in a scented Christmas candle - and we will miss her dearly.

Born in Stockton, California on October 1, 1947 to Yvonna Davis and Daniel "Brick" Carlisle Huntley, she was raised in the Seattle, Washington area where she attended Tyee High School and Western Washington University. In her younger years, she loved to sew, read, ice skate and waterski, but hated working at the local pickle factory. She loved The Beatles, and one of her favorite Seattle memories was seeing them outside The Edgewater Hotel where they were staying during their 1964 world tour. She loved living in the northwest but caught the travel bug in college and became a flight attendant for Western Airlines, where she traveled all over North America and came away with countless fun stories and memories.

Her travels brought her to Salt Lake City, where she was baptized as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and met and fell in love with our sweet dad Dwight while he was singing and playing guitar in a dinner club. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple and shortly after moved back to Seattle, Washington for Dad's sales job. After giving birth to their daughter Janie, mom was in and out of the hospital for several months after losing a kidney. She loved being a mom, and despite the health risks, she and Dad made the decision to have two more children - Bryan and Carter - after they moved back to the Salt Lake area.

During their almost 25 years in our Cottonwood Heights home, she could often be found taking evening walks to the 7-Eleven for a Big Gulp with her beloved neighbor friends, sitting on the front porch watching her kids play, helping with our church's Young Women program or girls camps, or assisting us with homework and various scouting projects. She was always either listening to music, crafting, watching her favorite television shows, or sewing matching holiday and church outfits for her kids. Our home was never quiet, but it was always filled with love.

Mom had a passion for making our home look, feel, and smell beautiful. She had an artistic eye and a desire to help Dad make ends meet, and she used that talent to start a home business creating beautiful dried floral arrangements and wreaths. She created a fully stocked craft room where she would stay up late into the evenings fulfilling orders, preparing for home boutiques, and filling our own home with the smell of cinnamon, pine cones, and hot glue. She was even selected to create the floral arrangements for a televised fall session of General Conference for our church, which was one of the highlights of her life.

Later, she opened a home decor store just minutes from our Cottonwood Heights home at Hillside Plaza called Artworks (later renamed Homeworks), which she eventually expanded to a second location in Holladay, Utah. Her talent continued to grow into interior design, where she worked at several home stores over the years helping people create beautiful, comfortable spaces for their families. She added places like ZCMI, Castleton's, and even the University of Utah to her resume, where she worked in the student clubs office to access tuition discounts for her kids.

Her greatest joy was being a grandmother. In unique Chris fashion, she created an entire room in her home for her grandkids that looked like it was straight out of a magazine, complete with twinkle lights, kids' furniture, and baskets of new and vintage toys and books.

In 2013, they left their home in Draper, Utah and retired to St. George, Utah, where Dad sadly passed away on Christmas morning 2018 after a long battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. While she always had a beloved pet dog to comfort her, she was heartbroken and "wanted to be closer to Dad" after he passed and moved back to Draper into a senior living community.

Mom loved her family fiercely, she treasured her friendships, she adored our Dad, and she had an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. While she will be missed deeply, we are comforted by the knowledge that she is with our Dad and her loved ones again and that our family will be together forever.

The family would like to thank Ron and Julie Osborn, who generously and consistently helped with some of Mom’s expenses in her later years. We’re also grateful for Amanda with Visiting Angels, who lived up to the name and provided so much tender love and support, as well as for Mom’s roommate Barbara at Draper Rehabilitation & Care Center, who provided constant comfort and friendship. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the medical team at Intermountain Medical Center who helped us navigate her final hours with grace and provided such compassionate care to our beloved Mom.

Chris is survived by her children Janie (and Brock) Belliston, Bryan (and Janalyn) Osborn, Carter (and Amy) Osborn, and 10 beautiful grandchildren: Annie, Kate, Jake, Camryn, Josh, Halle, Ethan, Taylor, Chase and Tanner who will all miss her so much. She is preceded in death by her husband Dwight, her brother Dan, her mother Yvonna and her father Daniel.
