Clara Mae Peterson Overton

Clara Mae Peterson Overton passed away, after a brave battle with metastatic breast cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family when she finally passed on December 21st, 2022. She was born to Genevieve Lily Larson Peterson and Archie Albert Peterson on July 24, 1940 in Hawthorne, California.

When she was still a baby her family moved to Sandy, Utah where she grew up and graduated from Jordan High School. A year after graduating she met the love of her life, Adrian Elliott Overton and they were married on August 15, 1959. In 1991 they were sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.

Clara Mae had one sister, Charlene, who was a year older and passed away of cancer in 1996 at age 57. They were inseparable, they went to school together, got married a month apart, had their first babies a month apart, lived in the same apartment building, traveled together, spent weekends together. They even worked for the same company when they got their first jobs. When Charlene passed away it devastated Clara Mae and she didn't know how she would survive without her. Clara Mae and Adrian were lucky to have had very good friends. Gene and Carol Bangerter filled the emptiness of losing Charlene, that's when Carol became Clara Mae's forever sister. Clara Mae went to work for the State of Utah, Department of Natural Resources in their Human Resource Office. This became her most favorite job ever. She loved working with people and getting to know them and she made many forever friends, whom she will never forget. Everyone had a special place in her heart and if she could talk to each and every one, she would say she loved them all very much.

Clara Mae and Adrian were blessed with five wonderful sons, Todd Adrian (Leslie), Troy E (Brenda), Michael Tracy (Ali), Trent Steven, Tyler Jason (Amanda). She was so proud of them and their accomplishments, steadfast in their fields of expertise and taking care of their families. Clara Mae has been fiercely protective of her sons and has always put them first. When raising their family, they didn't always have a lot of money so she worked hard in order to keep food on the table. Working and raising four babies in four years was hard. The fifth arrival came nine years later, but was much easier because she had so much help from the first four and believe me they helped a lot. Her sons were so responsible and didn't hesitate to help with the housework and cooking. When they finally left home, they had all the resources and knowledge to be independent. She is so loved and appreciated by her sons.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Adrian Elliott Overton on November 7, 2020 (the worst year ever) and her son Tyler Jason Overton on July 20, 2022. She is survived by four of her sons, four daughter in laws, 21 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
