Clifford “Cliff” Benally

Nephi – Clifford “Cliff” Benally, 49, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 6, 2026, at his home in Nephi.

Cliff was born on April 8, 1977, in Keams Canyon, Arizona, to Mary Manybeads and Leo Benally.From a young age, Cliff was never afraid of hard work. He left the reservation early in life to begin his career building power plants, a career that would take him across many different states and introduced him to countless people who would become lifelong friends.

Cliff spent most of his career with BoDell Construction, where his dedication, determination, and willingness to work hard allowed him to wear many different hats. He was the kind of man who could be counted on to get the job done, no matter what it took. He took pride in his work and in providing for his family. Over the years, the friendships Cliff made on job sites and through his travels became much more than friendships, they became family. His hard work opened the door to many adventures, but perhaps his greatest adventure began when that journey brought him to Nephi in 2005.

It was there that Cliff met the next-door neighbor who would become the love of his life and his best friend, Trinity. From the day they met, they were together. Their relationship grew into a partnership built on love, friendship, laughter, and a lifetime of memories. Cliff and Trinity were “officially” married in 2013, but in every way that mattered, they had chosen one another long before that day. Trinity was Cliff’s person, his partner, and the one he wanted beside him through all of life’s adventures.

Together, Cliff and Trinity built a life and a family that Cliff was incredibly proud of. He was the devoted and proud father of two children, Brykley Selma, and Ashkii BeaJay. Being a dad was one of Cliff’s greatest joys. While he worked hard to provide for his family, the greatest reward for him was coming home to them. His children were his pride and joy, and there was nothing he loved more than watching them grow, discover who they were, and pursue the things that made them happy.

Cliff’s career took the family on many adventures throughout Utah and neighboring states, creating memories and stories that will be cherished for years to come. Eventually, Cliff and Trinity built their dream home in Nephi, a place where their family could put down roots and make a lifetime of memories together.

Outside of work, Cliff had a strong passion for cooking, especially his “frybread”, fishing, riding four-wheelers, shooting, and camping. He loved being outdoors and creating adventures with the people he loved. But of all the things Cliff enjoyed, nothing compared to his time with Trinity, and watching his children grow up and excel in their own hobbies and passions. He celebrated their accomplishments, supported their dreams, and took immense pride in the people they were becoming.

Cliff was a hardworking man, a loyal friend, a loving husband, and a devoted father. He spent his life working hard, building things, creating friendships, and, most importantly, building a life and a family he could be proud of. His greatest legacy will not be the power plants he helped build or the miles he traveled for work, but the love he poured into Trinity, Brykley, and Ashkii, and the countless lives he touched along the way.

Those who knew Cliff will remember his strength, his work ethic, his loyalty, his adventurous spirit, and the love he had for his family. The friendships he made throughout his life became family because that was the kind of person Cliff was someone who made people feel like they belonged.

Though his time with us was far too short, Cliff leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a love that will continue to live on through Trinity, his children, his family, and all those fortunate enough to call him a friend.

His family takes comfort in knowing that the man who spent his life working hard, loving deeply, and providing for those he cared about has left behind a legacy that will never be forgotten.

Cliff is survived by the center of his world, Trinity, Brykley, and Ashkii; his mother, Mary Manybeads; his siblings, Darryl Todichinni, Madeline Todichinni (Tommy “Uncle” Littleben Sr.), Terry (Albertina) Benally, Clarence Benally (Surfina Lee), Verna Benally, and LeOra Benally; his in-laws, Scott (Clarissa) Evans and Lisa (Gary) Babione; many aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends; and the best of the best, “Grandma B,” Beatrice Winn, and “Grandpa Keith,” Keith Evans.

Cliff was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Leo Benally; niece, Shawnique Klah; and niece, Chynelle Benally.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family memorial fund, at Nephi Western Credit Union, created to help cover funeral expenses.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Juab County Sheriff’s Office, Nephi City Police Department, and Juab County Ambulance for their rapid response and care, to Goff Mortuary for their care and compassion. A special thank you to BoDell Construction for providing Cliff with a lifelong career and many friendships.
