Colin Warren Skinner

Colin Warren Skinner, 90, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend peacefully passed away October 7, 2025, at his home in Orem, Utah. Born in Logan, Utah on January 17, 1935, he graduated from high school in India, served as a young missionary in the Great Lakes Mission, and earned his engineering physics degree from Montana State College in Bozeman, MT. Colin worked as an engineer throughout his career, earning at least two patents for his innovations. He loved the ocean and doing sonar projects all over the world.(Think the movie, Hunt for Red October! That was filmed at his shop. His big ‘claim to fame’ was being seen working in the sub shop!- in the original screen-version of the movie). He lived in both California and Utah with his wife Shirley and family, and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving faithfully in numerous callings.

In 2020, Colin married Charlotte Carolee Wolfley in Provo, Utah before moving to Sherwood, Oregon. They served a mission together in Draper, Utah where they worked with the people from India and made many dear friends. They had wanted to serve in his beloved India but Heavenly Father had different plans… He brought India to them! From that opportunity, they met their loving son, Shankar, whom they subsequently adopted.

Colin was loved by many and loved many! The family he was born into- with 2 of his 4 siblings still here- younger brother Roger (Afton) Skinner of Roy, UT, and his dear little sister Kathryn (Tito) Frutos of Santa Ana, CA. He had the enviable opportunity to be loved by 2 families. First, for 58 years of marriage, the loving wife of his youth, with whom he and Shirley welcomed 5 children, 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren into their home. Todd (Kathleen) Skinner, Tracy (John) Joost, Teresa (Del) Craig, Trent (Cristina) Skinner, Timothy Ryan (Amy) Skinner.

And then at age 82, found love again and married his sweetheart, Carolee. They had 5 ½ adoring years together.

To Colin there were NO in-laws, out-laws, formers or steps! If you were in his family, you were full-fledged His! Grandpa Apple or Grandpa Colin, it didn’t matter what you called him, You are His! And he loved you whole-heartedly! Carolee’s kids Spencer (Emily) Wolfley of San Antonio,TX, Charlynn (Michael) Chambers of Woodburn, Oregon, The Loggs (Bill and Nicole) of Wichita Falls, TX were Grandpa’s kids! Shankar Thatipamula Skinner of Warangal, Telangana, India was the added bonus he never saw coming but who brought great joy to his Old age and our family! To each and every one of you children, grandchildren and Sweetheart, no matter how or when you came to him, near or far, You are his and he will be watching over you, anxiously waiting for you to join him and come home. Close your eyes, breathe in and feel your Dad’s, Grandpa’s, brother’s, uncle’s, friend’s, husband’s hug. He loves you.

The most prized possession he owned was his current temple recommend! He loved the Lord and His temple and went as often as he could. He and Carolee put themselves on a “temple Mission” the last 2 years of his life while he was still strong, knowing that one day, he wouldn’t be able to go. His last day at the Jordan River Temple was the Saturday before he passed away. He so loved his Temple Family. You are family to Us!! Thank you for loving and taking care of us. His greatest desire is that all who knew him, or is reading this, would follow suit. Come to know your Savior. Make covenants with Him and then go about keeping those covenants through your life experiences and choices, choosing to become like Him. That ye may go where He goes, being bound to, and living with, our Savior, Jesus Christ and our Father in Heaven for eternity!

Colin is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Mae Ryan Skinner (2016), his parents Halver Morgan Skinner (1997) and Violet Marie Steffenhagen Skinner (1985), two sisters, Jeanine LaRae Skinner Davidson (2022) and brother-in-law Dan Davidson (2024) and Rhonda Ann Skinner Biggs (1983). And his Father in-law, Robert J Wolfley (2024). He is survived by his Sweetheart Carolee, all their children and grandchildren, 2 siblings, mother in-law Wyona G. Wolfley, and 3 sisters-in law Debbie Langley, Tama (Mark) King and Julianne (Ron) Eyre.
