Dale LaVar Fowles

Dale LaVar Fowles, 77, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Dale was born on June 13, 1948 in Salt Lake City, Utah to James and Wilba Fowles. Dale married his sweetheart, Juanita Fowles, on September 29, 1966, in Draper. Together they built a life centered on love, hard work, and family. They were blessed with two children, Jim Fowles and JoAnn Bigler, along with six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life.

Dale had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed archery, camping, and fishing, and found peace anywhere nature could be experienced. An avid archer, Dale organized and shot in many archery tournaments and was a founding father of the Datus Archery Club in West Jordan. He organized archery campouts that created some of the most cherished memories for his family. Camping wasn’t just a hobby – it was where family truly came together. Dale also loved fishing and could often be found from early morning until late evening at lakes throughout Utah.

At home, Dale loved barbequing for his family, spending quality time together, and watching a good show on television. He especially enjoyed country music and golden oldies and was known for singing along to his favorite songs and dancing around the house when the mood struck. His joy was contagious. Know affectionally as “Bigfella”, Dale was loyal, kind, faithful, and loving. He was a man you could always count on – someone who believed in serving others and putting his family first.

He was a hardworking provider, Dale graduated from Granite High School and worked at Granite Furniture, Deseret Detective Agency, Kennecott and UTA. He often worked three jobs at once, including painting and carpet installation on the side, doing everything he could to support his family. His work ethic and dedication were unmatched.

Dale is survived by his beloved wife, Juanita Fowles; his children, Jim Fowles and JoAnn Bigler; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, plus his two sisters Lynn Ford and Karen Davis (Todd). He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Wilba Fowles and his two sisters Diane and Sandra Fowles.

The Fowles family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support shown during this time. A special thank you to Quality Home Health and Hospice for their compassionate care.

A viewing will be held on February 14th from 10 to 12 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St. in Midvale, UT. Graveside services will follow at the Draper City Cemetery.
