Dale Norman Tolley

Dale Norman Tolley passed away on January 9, 2023, at his home in Fullerton, California. He was 63. Dale was born on August 20, 1959, in Ogden, Utah, to Robert LaMar Tolley and Norma Rae Howlett. He was the youngest of 4 children. He had an older sister, Debra; a brother, Robert Ray, who died in infancy; and another brother, David. Shortly after Dale’s birth, the Tolley family moved back to Nephi, Utah, where Bob and Norma had started their marriage, and there they stayed.

Dale was a fun little boy. He played “cowboys and Indians” with his cousins. He participated in little league baseball and Cub Scouts where he really enjoyed making the winning pinewood derby car with his dad. As he grew older, Dale developed a love for music and played the trombone in the summer parades with the high school marching band. He also enjoyed playing tennis on the high school tennis team. Dale was a talented artist and was one of two winners in the graphic art category in his high school art contest. Dale graduated from Juab High School in 1977 then studied auto mechanics at Trade Tech. He married Janice Anne Cotton on October 7, 1978, in the Salt Lake Temple. They later divorced. In 1979 Dale and Janice had a beautiful baby girl, Jana Marie.

Since he was a young boy, Dale wanted to be a mechanic. He worked in auto shops all of his adult life. For the last 38 years, he worked at Golden West Tire and Service Center in Fullerton, California. His boss gave him the nickname “Dr. Dale” because Dale could fix anything! He even had Dale’s name embroidered on his work shirt as “Dr. Dale”. Dale was kind to all, and his fun-loving personality will be greatly missed by his friends and family, including his family at Golden West.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents, Robert LaMar Tolley and Norma Rae Tolley, his brothers, Robert Ray Tolley and David LaMar Tolley, and his son-in-law, Carlos “Scott” Perez.

Dale is survived by his daughter, Jana Perez (Ryan Shonebarger), his sister, Debra Schneider (Wayne Schneider), 5 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.

Dale’s family would greatly appreciate any donations to help pay for his funeral expenses. If you are so inclined, please call Anderson Funeral Home at 435-623-0153.

There will be a small service Monday, February 6, 2023 at 11:00 am at Anderson Funeral Home. Burial at Vine Bluff Cemetery.
