David Kent Ehlers

David K. Ehlers was born to Karl Ehlers and Esther Iseli Ehlers on November 26, 1942.  He passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Escalante @ Coventry where he has lived the last 4 months. He spent his childhood in Holladay.  When he was 12 years old his parents bought their first home in Cottonwood Heights and from there he attended Mt. Jordan Jr. High and Jordan High School.  He was married and divorced from 3 different women and has five sons.  In 2006 he married his 4th wife, Lael Kunz Askew Ehlers.

He worked many jobs during his lifetime.  He sold advertisements for the Salt Lake Tribune for several years but was proud of the preschool and daycares he and his second wife built together.  He ultimately retired from the county sheriff's office after working there for 20 years.  Dave loved Jordan High school and was on the alumni committee for several years.  He also loved Utah Football and had season tickets for many years.

Dave served in the National Guard and was proud of his service.  He loved his country, and the Salt Lake Valley and surrounding mountains.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Karl.  He is survived by his wife, Lael, his 5 sons Dave (Jenny) of Salt Lake City, Christopher (Marie) of St George, Jason of San Diego CA, Travis (Kris) of Cottonwood Heights, and Ryan (MeKyla) of Murfreesboro TN, and 12 grandkids. He is also survived by numerous stepchildren, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

Services will be held on Friday, January 19 at the LDS Meetinghouse located at 420 East Stokes Avenue, Draper, Utah at 12:00 with a viewing 1 hour prior at 11:00.
