David Larry Jeffries

The greatest man I ever knew hung up his gone fishin sign for the last time.

David Larry "Butch" Jeffries passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 5, 2026.

Born and raised in Chesterfield, Utah he had an adventurous childhood and lived it to the fullest. He grew up with a love of sweets, old western movies, especially with John Wayne and the outdoors.

He met the love of his life, Jacqueline Ann Smith while cruising state street and enjoyed 64 years of marriage with her.

He served his community for 6 years as Salt Lake County Jeep Patrol Search and Rescue. Afterwards he started his own drywall business, Jeffries Drywall, and became a Master Artestry Drywaller.

Through his journey of 84 years, he touched many lives, taught many things and had an unwavering love for the outdoors as an avid hunter and amazing fisherman. He loved the holidays especially Christmas. The family playing surprise bingo always ended up in hours of side splitting laughter. Family get togethers, barbecues, camping with marshmallow fights and the what happens in the mountains stays in the mountains hunting trips will be memories that will live on and laughed about forever.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, compassion and an occasional raising a lil bit of hell that lives on in all of us.

Whether he was stepping back in time as a mountain man at a rendezvous or teaching his children and grandchildren how to ride the three wheeler "green monster" in his backyard, teaching how to tie the perfect hook so as not to loose the big one, whipping up a batch of his famous fudge or drywalling a home with a job that was to perfection, he worked hard, loved deeply and brought joy and an off the wall humor to all those around him.

He will be greatly missed. Gone too soon....remembered forever.

He is survived by his wife Jacqueline Ann Smith Jeffries, son David Richard (Alysen) Jeffries, daughter Suzanne Jeffries. Eight grandchildren Adrienne (David) Otiz, Blake (Layla) Jeffries, Cayli (Brandon) Johnson, Elyssa (Zack) Boska, Sable (Ryan) Costello, Kaleb (Karin) Davis, Shelby (Zac) Lance, Sheridan (Bryan) Staley. Eight great grandchildren Aria, Ella, Aidan, Navy, Remi, Knox and Koal and sister Carolyn Marcek.

He was preceded in death by his loving and beautiful daughter Janalee Jeffries, his funny and adventurous great grandson Gage Jeffries, his parents Larry and Ruth Jeffries, his sister Beverly Froisland, and his brother Mark Jeffries.

We want to thank all the caregivers at Canyon Hospice and Beehive Home of Riverton. They took amazing care of him and his family during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital or the Humane Society of Utah.
