David Kerry Rigby

David passed away at home in Sandy, Utah, on December 1, 2025, at the age of 63, after a long illness related to heart disease, with his loving wife by his side.

He was born on March 29, 1962, in Bountiful, Utah, to Theon and Norma Rigby, and was the only son among four sisters. David married Eni Lopes on August 15, 2005, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and they shared a 20-year marriage filled with love and devotion.

David’s life was full of adventure, music, and love. He was an avid reader, enjoyed movies, game shows, and the Food Network, and he loved sports, having played baseball, basketball, and golf in his youth.

He loved to travel from a young age, carefully planning every detail and eventually exploring much of the world. Over the years he shared many special trips with his wife, Eni, created cherished memories taking his daughters on journeys abroad, especially to Europe, and later delighted his grandsons with magical visits to the Disney Parks. Music was woven into the fabric of his soul. He loved it all—rock and roll, pop, rap, country—and especially the timeless sound of The Beatles.

Music wasn’t just something he listened to; it was a companion throughout his life’s adventures, and he never hesitated to crank up the volume and sing along. He loved his family and embraced being a dad, but above all, nothing made him prouder than being a grandfather (“Poppop”) to his grandsons. They were his pride, his joy, and the light in his days.

He loved watching them do what they loved—sports, dance, or music—and they shared many adventures together. The bond he had with them was special, and it will live on in their memories, their stories, and the men they become.

“Rigby” (his work handle) was known for his sharp mind, steady kindness, and a deep love of food—both cooking it and savoring it. In the kitchen, he expressed creativity, care, and pride, and in his long career managing operations for Rodizio Grill he became a trusted mentor, quietly and effectively keeping things organized and running smoothly. Colleagues remember his reliability, his unfailing smile, and the way he made their work easier. Family and friends have countless memories of good meals shared with him and the people he loved.

David lived a life rich with love, curiosity, laughter, and purpose. He taught us a strong work ethic, and to always show up and give 100%. We will miss him every day, but we are grateful for the love he gave us and the legacy he leaves behind.

From his daughters: “Dad, thank you for the adventures, the music, the lessons, and the love. We will carry you with us always.”

From his Brazilian family: “There’s one thing we don’t easily accept: it’s the departure of someone we love. Imagine, then, when that person has a giant heart, wants to see everyone well, and makes sure they are well. That person is you, David Kerry Rigby. Loving, hardworking, attentive to the well-being of everyone around you and also those not so close. A good human being! You will always be remembered by everyone. You will be greatly missed. Go in peace, David, and take with you your very special way of being.”

David is survived by his wife, Eni; daughters Ashly (Javier), Raili (Aidan), and Mariana (Pedro); son Jerad (Alayna); and his grandsons Alex, Carlos, Cristian, Oliver, Rex, Benji, Grayson, and Miguel. He is also survived by his sisters Sandy (John), Debbie (Rick), and Lori (Mark), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Theon; mother, Norma; sister, RoLayne; and nephew, Jonathon.
