Donald Sherdon Woolstenhulme

I was born September 6, 1947 in the Coalville Hospital to Sherdon and Gwen Woolstenhulme. I lived in Oakley, Utah up until 4th grade. Our family moved to Wanship to be closer to the restaurant they had purchased, which was the Spring Chicken Inn.

I attended school at North Summit from 5th grade to my senior year, where I was active in all sports, but track was my favorite. I was good at pole vaulting. I enrolled in the University of Utah where I received my bachelor's degree in accounting.

I married my high school sweetheart, Susie Oldham, in 1967 in the Salt Lake Temple.

My birthday being #6 in the military draft lottery in 1970, I joined the Navy for 4 years.

We were stationed at San Diego at Balboa Hospital where I was an operating medical technician. I then spent 2 years aboard the USS Duluth (LPD-6).

Our first daughter, Wendy, was born in 1973. Our second child was born while I was at sea, another girl, Mitzi.

Upon return to the States, I came to a new 6-month baby girl and a new home. I then went to work in Park City at Silver King Bank. I left the bank to open a fast food restaurant, a break off from the Spring Chicken Inn.

Our third child was born during that time, and yes, another girl, Katie Sue. After we left the drive-in, I began working for my dad at the Spring Chicken Inn. Later we would find out we were having our 4th child-oh yes, our final girl, Gretchen.

Not long after Gretchen was born, my sweet Susie would find out she had breast cancer. Many treatments were given, but it just wasn't in the cards. Susie passed away December 24, 1985.

I married Kathy Jacobson in 1986. We purchased the restaurant from my dad and mom in 1989.

Kathy and I have been on many trips together, mostly sheep show trips. I ran sheep, a herd of registered Columbias, which I enjoyed so much. I had many champion bucks and ewes.

Since retirement, I have battled with Parkinson's and pulmonary fibrosis. Life has never been the same for me, but thanks to my wife and girls, they have kept me at ease.

I am survived by my wife Kathy; our children Wendy (Kerry), Mitzi (Brandon & Damon), Katie (Wesley), and Gretchen; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; mother-in-law Ann Jacobson; and siblings Terry, Steve, and Scott.

Preceded in death by my wife Susie Oldham Woolstenhulme; my parents Sherdon and Gwen Woolstenhulme; father-in-law Roy Jacobson; and son-in-law Brandon Jones.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 11 am at the Wanship LDS Church, 30899 Old Lincoln Hwy, Wanship, UT 84017.

There will be a viewing on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 from 6:00-8:00 pm, and also Thursday from 9:30 - 10:30 am, all at the church. Interment, Wanship Cemetery.
