Donell Gordon Francom passed away on December 31, 2025. He was born in Levan, Utah on July 25, 1937 to Gordon and Reva Francom. He was the oldest and last surviving of four children Duane, Ann and David.
Don attended American Fork High School where he enjoyed sports including basketball and baseball. He participated in the band playing saxophone, for which he received his letterman’s sweater. He graduated in 1954. After graduation he joined the National Guard and participated in the road construction project going up American Fork Canyon. He enjoyed hunting with his uncle, Ray Francom. He also worked on family farms using horse drawn equipment and worked with his father at a service station in American Fork.
He attended the University of Utah and he went on a mission for the LDS church to Hong Kong/Taiwan. Upon return from his mission in 1961 Don joined the Army with training in Massachusetts. While there he met and married Anna May Freeman. After training he was stationed in the Philippines, joined by Anna May where they had their first child, Greg. Upon completion of his tour in the Philippines they moved to Utah he completed a Bachelor degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Utah. They proceeded to have two more sons, Dale and Brion and divorced in 1979.
In 1980 he married Julie Ping Yam Sham who had two daughters Elena and Sabrina.
Don’s career started as a teller at Continental Bank where he worked to become the Second Vice President and was instrumental in developing their emerging Visa card program. Don then worked for Valley Bank as Vice President of Commercial Loans and finished his career at Bank One and Chase Bank where he devoted his time to community reinvestment.
Don is survived by his wife Julie, his three sons Greg, Dale and Brion, and two step-daughters Elena and Sabrina. He has 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held in his honor at a later date at the Levan cemetery.
