After 85 years of living, loving, serving and raising a wonderful family, Donna Lynnette Platt Gooch returned to her Heavenly home on August 9, 2026. Born as the first child on March 26, 1941 to Russell and Bernice Cash Platt, Lynnette’s early years were spent with her first friends who were also her siblings. Maralee, Jeff, Preston, Kathy, Tom and Russell were her first companions and first to enjoy her care and leadership. Her formative years were spent with relatives sprinkled throughout the Salt Lake Valley.
After serving as an LDS missionary to the South Australia Mission in 1962, she met the love of her life, Glen Gooch, on a blind date and they were married on April 26, 1965 in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Lynnette enjoyed many hobbies that included tole painting, oil painting, refinishing furniture, sewing, porcelain doll making, breadmaking, raising goats, geese, ducks, quail and chickens. In the shadow of the majestic Mt. Nebo in Mona, Utah, Lynnette and Glen raised ten children, grew a large garden and planted fruit trees from which she fed her family. There was always enough to preserve and share their abundance.
A lifelong and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lynnette lived a life centered on Christ-like service and love for others. She faithfully served in many callings throughout her life, served a senior couple mission with her sweetheart to Anchorage, Alaska, served as a temple ordinance worker and proudly indexed over a million names during her Family History Service mission. Her unwavering testimony of the Savior, her gentle kindness, and her Christlike charity blessed everyone who knew her.
Lynnette is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Glen Gooch; her 10 children: Paul (Bronwyn), Shellie (Joe), Shauna (Kepi), Wendy (Dirk), Mike (Cindy), Sharon (Cory), Bonnie (Rob), Susan (Doran), Jeremy (Tami), Amberlee (Rocky) and two bonus children, Elverna (Bronson) and Danny Tsosi, 55 grandchildren and 56 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Preston, Tom and Russell Platt and a son-in-law.
