Elaine Dotson Martinez

Our dear, sweet, and wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Elaine Dotson Martinez, passed away quietly at 12:17 pm on Tuesday, August 23rd, 2022. She was born on May 29th, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ether Fontella Dotson, and George Horold Dotson, the fifth born of six wonderful children.

Elaine was a remarkable woman, an exceptional cook, an incredible and loving mother, a partner in crime grandmother, a best friend, and a confidant. She was the heart and soul of her family; she gave everything she had and expected nothing in return. She loved with all of her heart, unconditionally.

Elaine lived most of her life in West Jordan, Utah in the home of her mother. People would gather there regularly; she opened her doors to many family members, and strangers a like.

Elaine is survived by her daughter Layne (Glenn) Johnson, son David Martinez, daughter Belinda Martinez, and son Dennis (Elisa) Martinez, ten grandchildren: Heather Johnson, Necole (Chrissy) Carpenter, Kirha (Dallas) Quick, Daniel Martinez, Colby (TJ) Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Miquele Chavez, Xander Martinez, Evie Martinez, and Michael Martinez, two great-grandchildren: Hyde Martinez and Jaicee Carpenter, her brother Richard (Maralyn) Dotson and her sister Joan Montoya. Preceded in death by her parents, her sister Fawn, and brothers Pete and George.

Services will be held at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, Utah.

A viewing for Elaine will be on Thursday, September 1st, 2022 from 6 to 8 pm. Her funeral will be Friday, September 2nd, 2022 at 11:00 am and there is a viewing one hour prior to services.
