Our beautiful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at home on August 1, 2025. She was born on November 6, 1935, in Nephi, Utah, to William Paxman and Vivian Tranter, the only daughter among five children.
Mom started volunteering in the hospital in Nephi during her senior year where she met her sweetheart, Leo Memmott. While he served a mission, she bravely left Nephi and moved to Idaho Falls where she attended The LDS School of Nursing. She married Leo on May 2, 1958, shortly before graduating with her RN degree.
In the early years of their marriage, Mom worked as a nurse in Logan, Utah, and later in Grand Junction, Colorado, while Leo finished school and began his career. In 1966, the family settled in Bountiful, Utah, where Mom continued her nursing career at Primary Children’s Hospital and later at Lakeview Hospital. Her compassionate care touched countless lives.
Mom’s life was a beautiful example of selfless service. Her greatest joy came from serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she and Dad devoted themselves to five full-time missions. In the Greece Athens Mission, Mom served as the mission medical advisor, and later, she stood faithfully beside Dad as he presided over the mission—lovingly supporting and serving the missionaries with all her heart.
While in the Brazil Porto Alegre Mission, Mom’s passion for music blossomed into a heartfelt ministry. She began teaching piano so each congregation could have a pianist. She enjoyed sharing her love for music with others.
Mom and Dad also served in the Inner-City Salt Lake Mission and later helped support students in the Pathway Education program in Rome, Italy, Ogden and Kaysville, Utah. In addition, Mom served as a hostess in the Church Office Building and as an ordinance worker in the Bountiful Utah Temple. Wherever she went, she uplifted and blessed others through her quiet strength, deep faith, enduring kindness, and love.
Mom was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Memmott, just two months ago and by her older brother George Paxman. She is survived by her children Larry (Tatyana) Memmott, Gordon (Katherine) Memmott, Denise (Jack) Doxey, Shirley (John) Odekirk and Nora “Moni” (Andrew) Stavisky. 19 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and her brothers Richard (Karen) Paxman, Preston (Debra) Paxman, and Bert (Sandra) Paxman.
The family would like to thank Amanda and Aarica from Amada Senior care and Jen from Rocky Mountain Home Care and Hospice for their kindness and care for our sweet mother.
