Frances Jeniel Boren Apostol, 91, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025. Jeniel was beauty and grace personified. Her loving kindness to all who knew her will be deeply missed.
Jeniel grew up in Bingham Canyon, the fifth of six children born to Ellis Boren and Frances Lesar. She looked back fondly on her childhood. She often commented that even though they didn’t have much, she never knew it because their home was full of love. Jeniel loved to dance. She was the President of the Minerettes at Bingham High School. She continued following her passion for dance at the University of Utah, where she graduated with degrees in Dance, Physical Education and Elementary and Secondary Education. She was a revered teacher and mentor to countless students for over 25 years.
She met George Apostol, her eternal companion and husband of 66 years when they were in elementary school. Jeniel and George were married in the Salt Lake Temple, December 29, 1958. They lived a happy life together and were inseparable until George’s passing just last month.
They settled in Midvale, where they raised their daughters: Georgann, Jill, Annette and Estella Pino whom they considered one of their own. Jeniel was a creative, patient and kind mother. In her later years, Jeniel would often look around at her posterity and say, “I always wanted a big family, and now I have one.”
While raising their family, Jeniel supported George in his entrepreneurial endeavors as well as taught dance in her home dance studio.
George and Jeniel spent their golden years enjoying their cabin in Midway, and creating fun memories and traditions for their family. Jeniel was a wonderful cook and an avid reader. She enjoyed participating in her book club and Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Jeniel was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she served in the Primary, Young Women and Relief Society organizations. She and George loved their time serving as inner city missionaries in the Poplar Grove Ward. Her greatest legacy is that of charity. She spent countless hours ministering to others, but more importantly, she generously gave the benefit of the doubt and forgiveness to others. She saw people in the best possible light.
Jeniel is survived by her daughters, Georgann (Todd) Lloyd, Jill (Mark) Kelly, and Annette (Mark) Anderson. She is preceded in death by her husband George, her parents, her siblings Russell, Donna Rose, and Bill, and her grandson, Reed Anderson.
