Frank Kury was born on May 15, 1943 in Pittsburgh Pa.
He began working as a radio DJ and engineer in the 60’s and eventually worked in TV broadcasting as a reporter and cameraman. In 1977 he moved to Salt Lake City as he wanted to begin a new career as an electronics engineer, and began attending Salt Lake Community College to get that degree. He worked at Varian for many years, but wanted to pursue a degree in business. He earned an MBA from BYU and was in the process of getting a PH.d from Utah State when his health began failing him.
Frank taught at Salt Lake Community and AP courses at a few local high schools. His hobbies included photography and woodworking. 4 wheeling in Moab, Utah during the Easter Safari was something he loved for many years. Skiing at Park City was a favorite too.
He died in hospice on August 31, 2026. He leaves behind his wife Rosemarie, whom he married 61 years ago, and daughter Francesca as well as his dog Rhino.
A short memorial mass will be celebrated on September 10, 2026 at 11:00 AM with recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 10:30 AM at St. Therese Catholic Church, 624 Lennox Street, Midvale.
In lieu of flowers, please either have Masses said for his repose or donate to our local humane society.
