Gary (Leo) Humes

Gary passed away on September 23rd, 2021 at 4:45 am at the University of Utah hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born to Gary and Marie Humes.

Gary has joined his father Gary, wife Merrice, two grandchildren, Trenton and Kayla, many aunts, uncles, and cousins in death. Survived by his mother Marie, siblings Tina and Dave Derbidge, Wendy and Val Braithwaite, 3 children Jodi, Nicole, Travis Humes, grandchildren Antonio, Mckenna, Eric, Merrice, great-grandchild Saylor, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Gary was a father, son, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend to so many.

He was a lover of anything automotive - cars, trucks, you name it. He loved to collect toy cars, his walls were lined with them. He was a great mechanic. He loved working on cars when he didn't think it was a chore. He loved horses, he had a few over the years. He liked going out to Duchesne to spend time with his aunt, uncle, and cousins.

He liked going to Wendover to gamble, have fun with his mother and friends. Gary was a hard-working man, just ask his boss, Luis, he meant a lot to his boss and coworkers. He loved his family and friends, he did his best to let them know that. He liked to bust our chops all the time, sometimes it was helpful, sometimes he was just playing around.

Gary, you are loved and missed by so many, you knew it was time, but we didn't accept that. It's ok, you are free now to play baseball and eat fried chicken with Merrice, sit and have a drink with your dad and shoot the breeze. You can now watch over the rest of us, fly high, fly free, drive fast, be the wonderful man you are.

Rest in peace, we love you.

Services will be held at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, Utah 84047, September 30th, 2021 between 6 and 8 pm.
