Gayle Jarman Beckstead

To know her was to love her…Gayle Jarman Beckstead passed from this world on Thursday, April 4, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Gayle was born to Inez Melba (Easthope) Jarman  and Charles Penrose Jarman on November 5, 1940 in Phoenix, AZ. The family moved around quite a bit before settling in Utah. Gayle was raised in a big family consisting of three sisters and two brothers, one half-sister and four half-brothers.

She met the love of her life, Jerry Delmar Beckstead, at the tender age of 13 and they eloped and married in August of 1957 when she was sixteen and he was barely seventeen. Their wedding day celebration consisted of cupcakes and comic books. They lived in South Jordan, Utah and of this blessed union, four children were born…Lynette, Brian, Todd and Jamie.

In September of 1971, the family moved to Glenrock, Wyoming and they happily resided there until all the kids were grown and married. Gayle and Jerry then moved back to Utah for work until 2002 when the lure of living in Wyoming called them back. Gayle and Jerry had numerous small businesses over their lifetime and even got their realtor’s licenses together. Gayle was still working as a realtor until her passing.

Gayle is survived by her children Lynette (David) Woodward of Bluffdale, UT, Brian (Sandy) Beckstead of Glenrock, WY, Todd (Sarah) Beckstead of Casper, WY and Jamie (Ron) Sullivan of Douglas, WY. She is also survived by her brothers David Jarman, Garth Jarman, Steven Jarman, and Jason Jarman; sister Laurie Moffatt; 10 grandchildren Aaron (Jenny) Woodward, Amanda (Brad) Davis, Nick (Kylie) Woodward, Shawna (Arron) Beckstead, Brandon (Jenn) Beckstead, Riley Beckstead, Ashley (Alex) Bergeron, Cellan Sullivan and Caleb Sullivan; 25 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Gayle is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers Charles Jarman and Matt Jarman; sisters Beth Turner, Donna Holt and Diane Dalley; and beloved grandson Kelly Beckstead.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 12^th at 11:00 AM at Anderson and Goff Mortuary, 11859 South 700 East, Draper, UT for those who live there. Funeral services and interment will be in Glenrock, WY on Saturday, May 18^th at 1:00 PM at Glenrock Middle School auditorium.
