Georgie Sperry Taylor

Draper — Georgie Wetsel Sperry Taylor died peacefully at home of natural causes on May 15, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Born Sept. 2, 1939 to Virgil and Jessiemay Wetsel in Taos, New Mexico. She graduated from Jordan High School in 1957. She got her PHT (Put Hubby Through) as she liked to say, by putting her husband Dave through school.

Dave and Georgie were married August 28, 1957. Together they raised 5 children. As a family they moved for Dave's job to San Diego, Albuquerque, Seattle, Pittsburg, Toronto, Minneapolis and then back to SLC. She made every move an adventure for her children and embraced change. She tended to pick up stray animals and people everywhere she went. Geogie loved sports and was her kids and grandkids biggest fan. She had a philosophy of 'if you start something then you finish it'. She loved her Utes and Steelers.

Georgie lost her husband Dave after 38 years of marriage. 13 years later she met and married another wonderful man, Brent Sperry. They were happily married for 16 years. Together they attended the grandkids games. He was a wonderful coach and grandpa to all of the grandkids.

Georgie was a faithful member of the LDS church. She served in many callings in her lifetime, her favorite being the Young Women's President. She was known for the fantastic food she cooked and especially the food she prepared for Sunday dinner.

Georgie was a generous souI. She would give anything she had or even didn't have to anyone if they needed it. She also loved fashion and clothing. She was always dressed to the nine's. She had a particular love for shoes and had a shoe for every outfit and an outfit for every occasion.

She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband Dunn David Taylor, daughter Bonne Taylor, her brother Dickie Wetsel and her parents.

Survived by husband Brent Sperry, children Mickey (Shari) Taylor, Steve (Julie) Taylor, David K (Christine) Taylor, Betty (Trent) Hudson, 25 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.

A private family service will be held in honor of Georgie. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity in her name.
