Gilbert Leon "Pete" Peterson

Gilbert Leon "Pete" Peterson, aged 95, passed away on July 10, 2024, in Sandy, Utah. Born on May 29, 1929, in Grand Junction, Colorado, Pete was a beacon of kindness and friendliness throughout his life. He was beloved for his cheerful spirit and easy laughter.

Pete proudly served in the Army and after his military service, he embarked on a 40-year career as a Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic at Kennecott Copper, where his expertise and hard work were highly valued.

An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Pete lived his faith and contributed to his church with dedication. His hobbies included organic gardening, crafting primitive bows and arrows, making knives, and fly fishing-a testament to his love for nature and craftsmanship.

Pete leaves behind his wife, Nola Green Peterson, and was a devoted father to Lon Clyde Peterson, Cindy Peterson Hodson, and Chad Noel Peterson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Marlon Peterson, and daughter, Sharla Peterson Schell. His legacy continues through his numerous grandchildren.

Viewing will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024, from 6-8 pm at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S State Street, Midvale, Utah. Memorial services will be conducted on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at 11:00 am at the LDS Church, 225 E 10600 S Sandy, UT, with a viewing prior from 10-10:45 am. Goff Mortuary in Midvale, Utah, is assisting the family during this time.
