Grant Eugene Worthington

Grant Eugene Worthington age 87 passed away peacefully at his home on July 13, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones. Grant was born in Nephi Utah to Joseph Eugene and Vay Worthington on December 24th 1934. Dad spent his life growing up on the family farm and working side by side with his father raising cattle and growing crops. He would always tell stories about raising rabbits and selling them to Fleet Pitt at his young age.
Dad graduated Juab High School and was proud of his accomplishments. He loved telling us he holds the record for the most points scored in a basketball game in Juab High School history. After high school he attended Snow Collage, and also played basketball. Earning his associate degree before moving on to BYU to finish his education. Dad graduated BYU with a teaching degree. Dad started his career at Nephi Elementary School teaching 4th and 5th grade. Where to this day we still hear stories from people around the community how he was their favorite teacher of all time. Dads love for faming continued his whole life till he couldn’t do it anymore. He was a pioneer in the Charolais breed business throughout Utah raising pure bred cattle that was his passion. While farming and teaching he met and married Sandra Christensen. They were married for several years before divorcing. They raised 5 children together 3 girls and 2 boys.
Dad was a avid fan of the Utah Jazz and never missed a game on tv. Even catching the summer league up until the week of his passing. One of his biggest enjoyments in life was his daily lunch date with his special friends Clark Adams, Don Ipsen and Carl Howard or any one that would join them. It was something he looked forward to. He enjoyed going to the grocery store visiting with people that he didn’t see every day. He always had a story to tell after lunch who he had talked to and what he had learned. Dad loved sitting on the porch swing and telling stories about his life for hours on end. He will be missed by many.
Grant is survived by his 5 children Tamara(Mike) Casper Tabiona, Sherie (Doug) Partridge Payson, Ronda Ballow of Levan, Greg Worthington Nephi and Brent Worthington Nephi, 14 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. A sister Gayle (Wesley) Lynn of Nephi. He is proceeded in death by his parents Joseph Eugene and Vay Worthington, Son in law Troy Ballow, granddaughter Jaylynn Anderson, and Great granddaughter Makayla Mcpherson.
