Harry Harvey Dahl, Sr.

Harry Harvey Dahl, Sr., of Sandy, Utah passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025 at the age of 80.

Harry was born on September 27, 1945, in Bakersfield, California to Art and Beth Dahl. He married his sweetheart, Lynn Mary Hahn, in the Salt Lake Temple and will always be remembered for his unwavering love and devotion to her during their 55 years together. He was an amazing father to their five children. He always had time for a conversation with them and had a knack for helping with problems—mechanical or otherwise.

A close second to his love of family was trucks—his father owned a small fleet and Harry was fueling and jockeying trucks around the yard by the age of twelve. He served in both the Utah Air and Nevada National Guard units as a mechanic and drove interstate tanker hauls during college. After graduating from Brigham Young University with a degree in Business Management, he began a 52-year career with Kenworth trucks—first at their Seattle factory, and later at the Salt Lake sales office.

Harry had a deep faith in his Savior, Jesus Christ, as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a missionary in the Sweden Stockholm Mission. He was a gifted teacher of the youth and served in multiple ward and stake leadership callings. No youth activity was too far or too late for him to be there with his kids.

He will always be remembered for his iconic collection of wide-brim safari hats, singing along to the Beach Boys on road trips, helping anyone stranded on the side of the road, and greeting his family with big, enveloping hugs.

Harry is survived by his loving wife Lynn; his five children: Harvey (Rachel), Amanda Larimer (Craig), Jeffrey (Amber), Christopher (Rachel) and Kenneth (Laura); brothers Doug and Greg; 25 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents Art and Beth, his brother David, and his sister Betty Kay Bailey.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 20 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lone Peak 1st Ward located at 11755 South 2000 East in Sandy, Utah. Interment at Sandy City Cemetery.
