Ida Romero

April 30, 1934 — January 6, 2024

Ida Romero

It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we announce the passing of our angel, Ida Romero, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and pillar of strength in her community. Ida passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on January 6th at the age of 89.

Ida was born in Truchas, New Mexico to Willie & Petronila Romero. She met her sweetheart, Nelson Romero, and they married on September 15, 1951. They shared 71 beautiful years together before Nelson’s passing in April 2022. Together, they built a strong foundation of love and shared 5 wonderful children together who were the center of Ida’s world.

She was a woman of unwavering faith, whose deep connection to God was evident in every aspect of her life. In 2004 she was named the Woman of the Year for her devotion and service to the community of St Therese Catholic Church. Ida’s commitment to her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Therese Catholic Church.

In 1966 she led the charge in establishing the Jordan Valley Day Care & Training Center (Jordan Valley School) for children with disabilities and other developmental challenges. Without her efforts and dedication, this center would not exist as we know it.

She embodied kindness, empathy, and boundless love for those fortunate enough to know her. She touched the lives of many people, and always welcomed anyone with open arms not only into her family, but made them a part of it. Ida’s passing leaves an indescribable void in the hearts of all who were privileged to share in her life. We find solace in the memories of her love, her wittiness, and the profound impact she had on so many. May her beautiful soul rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved husband and daughter in God’s everlasting love.

Ida is survived by her children, Robert Romero, Rachel (Steve) Jenson, Sharon (Paul) Garcia, Gary (Sophia) Romero, 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, brothers Willie Romero and James (Elizabeth) Romero. She was preceded in death by her husband Nelson, daughter Jolene, daughter-in-law Kathy, sister Grace, and parents (Willie & Petronila) Romero, and countless extended family members.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Goff Mortuary (8090 State Street) in Midvale, UT from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm with a rosary to follow. On Monday, January 15th, a viewing will be held from 10:00 am to 10:45 am at St. Therese Catholic Church (7832 Allen Street) in Midvale, followed by a mass in celebration of Ida’s life at 11:00 am.  A dedication of the grave at Midvale City Cemetery will follow the mass.

May the angels lead you into paradise. You will be dearly missed and forever remembered in our hearts.

Special thank you to all the wonderful nurses and staff at Crescent Senior Living and all those who helped care for our mom over the past couple of years.
