Jack E. Alford

Our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away unexpectedly on April 23, 2024. He was born in San Diego, CA to Jack and Doris Alford. He only had one sibling Peggy Johnson (Dale).

Jack enjoyed his time at Grossmont High School; La Mesa, CA where he earned his letter in Track as well as other sports. He went on to study criminology at San Diego State. After college, Jack continued in the family painting business working with his father. During this time, he became the vice president and then president of the San Diego Painting and Decorating Contractors Association. He then went on to start his own painting company.

He married the love of his life Ginger Steiner in June of 1972 in La Mesa, CA. They were blessed with two sons Robert and David that he loved dearly. Jack and Ginger had a wonderful life together and were the best of friends for 51 years.

Jack and Ginger moved to Utah in 1996. They had already been coming to Utah for years to camp and hunt and they loved it. Their boys were out of high school, so they decided to make a change in their lives and experience a new adventure. Jack started work as a construction superintendent and continued for the remainder of his career. He excelled in this position and was admired by his peers for his outstanding contributions to the industry.

Jack loved riding his motorcycles and the outdoors. He spent many happy years riding motorcycles with his sons in the deserts of San Diego and Baja California. On any Sunday, you could find him riding motorcycles, camping, fishing or just exploring the mountains with his wife. Sitting around a roaring campfire, high in the mountains with his wife, is how he loved to spend the summers.

Jack never knew a stranger and was a friend to all. He loved bringing smiles to people’s faces and sharing a good story with a laugh. Family was first in his heart, and he loved to get together. He especially loved to cook for family and friends. It brought him special joy and a sparkle to his eyes. He will be greatly missed.

Jack is survived by his wife Ginger, his two wonderful sons Robert (Dary) and David (Crystal), that he was so proud of, his daughter-in-law Dary whom he loved and always said was a blessing, eight beautiful grandchildren and his sister Peggy Johnson (Dale).

Jack is preceded in death by his parents (Jack and Doris Alford) and brother-in-law Dale Johnson.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
