Jacklin Sloan Brough (“Nona”)

Jacklin Sloan Brough, lovingly known as “Nona” to her grandchildren and family, passed away peacefully at home on July 9, 2025, surrounded by those who cherished her most.

Born in Jacksonville, Florida to Elizabeth Pagonis and William Sloan on October 23, 1947, Jackie devoted her life to her family and brought joy, humor, and warmth to all who knew her. She married John Karl Brough on December 9, 1967, in Jacksonville, and together they built a life rooted in love, raising their family in Jacksonville, Florida; San Diego, California; and Gilbert, Arizona before retiring to Nephi, Utah.

Jackie spent many years as a beloved school lunch lady, a role she embraced not just as a job but as a way to stay close to her children. Her kindness and playful spirit left a lasting imprint on the hearts of students and teachers alike. Later in life, she served faithfully in the LDS temples in Mesa, Arizona and Payson, Utah—a reflection of her quiet devotion and enduring grace.

She was a woman of deep love and gentle strength, with a spark of sass and a heart that made everyone feel at home. Whether offering a warm meal, a comforting word, or a mischievous smile, Jackie created a world where people felt seen, loved, and cared for.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, John Karl Brough, and their children: Karla (Mike) Price, Joshua (Kevin) Brough, and Austin (Kara) Brough. She was the proud and adoring Nona to her seven grandchildren: Elena, Jackson, Emmett, Chanel, Marshall, Nixon, and Ryleigh.

Jackie is also survived by her brothers Brett Sloan and Bill Sloan. She was preceded in death by her brother Fred Sloan and her parents.

A graveside service will be held Friday, July 11th at 10:00 a.m. at Vine Bluff Cemetery in Nephi, Utah.

Her spirit will live on in the laughter of her grandchildren, in the stories told around kitchen tables, and in the love she poured so freely into every life she touched. She will be forever honored in the memory of her family.
