"Jackie"
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, Jacquelyn Michelle Rose Goodrich, passed away peacefully at her home on January 1, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply.
Jackie was born on January 7, 1942, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Elma Louise Rose and James Roy Bell Rose. Her father passed away when she was 9, so Jackie and her younger brother, Jim, were raised by their mother, who often held two jobs to provide for her children. From these early years, Jackie learned resilience, determination, and the importance of family.
She graduated from Highland High School and later from the Brigham Young University School of Nursing. She had an amazing career spanning more than 50 years, mainly as a labor and delivery nurse. Nursing became her legacy, followed by three daughters, two granddaughters, and one grandson who followed her path into the nursing profession.
Mom and Dad were married on April 2, 1965, in the Salt Lake City Temple. They were married 59 years, until dad passed in August of 2024. They built a home in West Jordan, where they raised their five children. A plaque above the kitchen table reads “Love, Chaos, and Dinner.” This sums it up perfectly!
In 2005, Jackie and her husband were called to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Nauvoo, Illinois, an experience that became one of the highlights of their many years of faithful service. They loved to travel and never missed an opportunity for a road trip. Calls sometimes received were, “We ended up in Canada, can you book us a hotel? We won’t be home today.” They wouldn’t hesitate to make the drive to Maddox in Brigham City for lunch.
A passionate genealogist, Jackie devoted countless hours to researching and preserving her family’s history. Frustrated by the lack of information about her father’s lineage, they set about on a journey through Kentucky and the Midwest, gather information and piecing together the missing parts, one time discovering a remote cemetery where many of her ancestors were buried.
Above all else, Jackie’s greatest joy was her family. She cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren, forming unique and personal relationships with each one. A fiery red head with a known for her fiery spirit, Jackie remained strong-willed and determined to the very end. She missed her husband deeply, and we know it was a wonderful reunion.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, her brother Jim, and her parents.
She is survived by her five children: Kellie (Quinn), Aimee (Tenny), Matt (Lena), Laura (Brett), and Tim (Charity), along with 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Until we meet again, Jack, we will miss you every day.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 9, at the LDS chapel located at 2901 West 9000 South, West Jordan. A viewing will be held from 10:00–11:30 a.m., followed by the service. Interment will take place at Herriman City Cemetery.
