Jan Pickering Allred

Jan Pickering Allred, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Jan was born on May 26, 1953, a cherished daughter of Nilan and Edith McPherson Pickering. She grew up in Nephi Utah with older brother Kerry, younger brother Rodney and identical twin sister Julie. She attended schools in Nephi and graduated from Juab High where she enjoyed being a Wasp cheerleader.

Jan married Robert Allred in Nephi in 1971. They were later sealed for time and all eternity. They were the proud parents of children Angie, Travis and Todd.

She was a diligent worker throughout her life, putting to use her work ethic, creativity and sense of style. Her first job, at the age of 8, was working for her parents at the family business, Pick’s Drive In. She was a valued employee at several cafes in Nephi, always making certain that the customers were well served.

She started her own business, Jan’s Catering and Flowers. Using her natural talents and the job skills that she had honed throughout her life, she ran her business successfully for 22 years. She would want to acknowledge the help that family gave her in this endeavor. After selling her business, she enjoyed being a school lunch lady for several years.

Jan had a deep love for her community. She enjoyed helping design and create award-winning parade floats for the Ute Stampede and other parades, a reflection of both her imagination and her joy for celebrating others. She served devotedly in the Relief Society Presidency, where she always went above and beyond, adding thoughtful details and warmth to everything that she did.

Jan loved cooking and delighted in sharing homemade treats like her famous fudge and German chocolate cake. She enjoyed decorating, crafting and creating beauty in everything around her. Jan took great pride in her home, which she lovingly tended like a cozy cottage. Every detail was intentional, welcoming and full of comfort. Her home and yard reflected her heart. Beautiful, inviting, and full of life. It was a gathering place, where Sunday dinners, family celebrations, laughter, games- complete with prizes, and connections were a constant. Jan had a special gift for bringing people together and making everyone feel cared for.

Jan’s legacy is one of love, service and warmth. She will be dearly missed but always remembered for her unwavering dedication to those she loved.

Jan is survived by Robert, her devoted husband of 55 years, daughter Angie (Jason) Davis (granddaughters Katie and Ella), son Todd (Katie) Allred, brother Rod Pickering, sister Julie (Charles) Hall, and all those whose lives were made brighter by knowing her. She was preceded in death by her parents, older brother Kerry and beloved son, Travis, whom she always carried in her heart.
