Jane Arlene Briggs Griffiths

It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of Jane Arlene Griffiths, 85 years old of Nephi, Utah; a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend. Jane Arlene Briggs was born September 30, 1940 at home in a two room log cabin near McKinnon, Wyoming to Eli & Mary Nelson Briggs.

She attended school in McKinnon, Wyoming, which at the time only went through grade 10. To finish up school she moved to Logan, Utah for the last 2 years of High school--where she met her sweetheart, Russell Griffiths. They were inseparable from the start, and were married September 25, 1957. Their love story spanned decades and was a shining example of partnership, sacrifice, and enduring affection.

Together, Russell and Arlene were blessed with three amazing children- Janice, Bryon, and Boyd. They moved 17 different times in their early years of marriage, following opportunities for Russell’s education and work. Their journey took them across the country and back, offering rich experiences and memories in each new place. Though moves weren’t always easy, they were able to lean on each other and embrace each experience with adventurous spirits, always focusing on keeping their home filled with love. Eventually they settled in Nephi, Utah where they built a life and planted roots for the past 56 years.

Arlene had a deep kindness that drew people in, and her gentle nature made everyone feel at ease. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy, and nothing made her happier than being surrounded by their laughter and energy.

Arlene loved her Savior and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where through the years she taught every Primary class, was Primary President in 3 different wards, served in Ward & Stake Relief Society positions, and served as Cub Master for 13 ½ years.

A gifted seamstress, Arlene was in charge of several humanitarian project for over 11 years where she spent countless hours creating beautiful quilt tops and backs, tied hundreds of quilts and bound them for Welfare Square, the Woman in Crisis Center in Nephi, The Veterans Care Center in Payson, Law enforcement officers(to have a quilt in their cars), and donated countless blankets, soft toys, and dolls for Primary Children’s Hospital. She truly enjoyed sewing and for many years handmade clothes for herself, her kids and others. Along with this, she also served as voter registration agent, & judge of elections for many years.

Arlene’s legacy is one of love, devotion, and quiet strength. Her life was rich with meaning, not because of material things, but because of the relationships she nurtured and the lives she touched. She taught us all how to love deeply, live simply, and give generously. Though we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the extraordinary life she lived and knowing she is in the arms of our Savior and loved ones. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her husband and sweetheart of 68 years, Russell Max Griffiths; their children Janice Guymon (Cleveland, Utah), Bryon (Elaine) Griffiths (Delta, Utah), Boyd (Amy) Griffiths (Nephi, Utah); 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and brothers Calvin Briggs & Rueben (Cheryl) Briggs.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister-Veda, brothers- Don, Gene, & Merrill, father-in-law & mother-in-law: Clyde & Emma Griffiths, sister-in-law Elaine (Bill) Schenck, son-in-law DeMar Guymon.
