Janice Crosland Stephenson

Janice Crosland Stephenson, 87, of Nephi, Utah, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026. She was the daughter of Neil and Nell Crosland.

Janice was born May 10, 1938, and lived in several places with her family during her childhood, including Holden, Bullhead City, Arizona, Stockton, and finally Levan. She attended secondary schools in Nephi and enjoyed her time at Juab High School, where she made many lifelong friends. She loved her high school years and was the Jr. Prom Queen, the very first Miss Football in 1955, and participated in many other activities.

She married James M. Stephenson on June 15, 1956, in the Manti Utah LDS Temple. Together they had six children: Mike (Tiare) of Nephi; Bart (Louise) of Rawlins, Wyoming; Lori (Rodney) Steiner of Nephi; Curtis (Melanie) of St. George; Jan Sutherland of Mona; and David (Michelle) of Highland.

Janice worked for many years as a lunch lady for the Juab School District. She started at Nephi Elementary School and later moved to Juab High School. She ended her career serving both high school and middle school students. She built many friendships with her coworkers and loved making good food for the students, especially the giant chocolate chip cookies served hot every morning.

Family time was the most important thing for Janice and Jim. They spent countless hours camping, attending rodeos and riding club events, and doing whatever they could to spend time with the ones they loved. She would even go on motorcycle trips with dad. She treasured her friendship with members of the Utah Good Sams Club. She loved her yard and spent many hours making it beautiful for others to enjoy. Janice loved spending time with her friends, especially the “Coke Ladies” on their daily afternoon drink runs.

Janice will be remembered for her love of family, her many friendships, and the kindness she shared with everyone around her.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; her sisters, Eileen, Rayma, and Helen; and her son-in-law, John Sutherland. She is survived by her six children, 23 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their appreciation for the many prayers, cards, food, and visits. They are especially grateful for the skilled and compassionate hospital and hospice care, including Kristy James, Cammy Draper, Dr. James Rosenbeck, Brace and Mike at Anderson Funeral Home, Bishop Mark Worthington, and the members of the Nephi 3rd Ward for their compassionate service.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Vine Bluff Cemetery in Nephi, Utah. Those attending should bring their own chair.
