Following his military service, Jerry served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints in the Western Canada Mission. He told his family how he and his companion would hitchhike to get from place to place. Part of his mission was to do a weekly radio program.

Jerry and Marcia continued their love of dance, serving in the church 25 years training
youth dance teams for dance festivals in Arizona and Utah.
Jerry would teach himself many things over the years. One of his proudest accomplishments was building his house on Ramanee-doing the foundation and all.
All who knew Jerry knew of his love of playing tennis, getting in two days of gameplay each week. He would teach all of his grandkids how to play.
He loved spending time with family and loved the opportunities when the whole family
could be together.
