JoAnna Mader

JoAnna Mader went to heaven to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, whom she loved deeply on August 7, 2026. JoAnna was born to Jacob Andrew Mader and Mary Lulu Davis in Wiley, Colorado on September 3, 1936. JoAnna later settled in California.

JoAnna was a teenager when she got married to Rod Norville. As newlyweds, they left to Savannah, Georgia because Rod Norville had enlisted in the Air Force for 4 years. They had returned to California. They later went on to have five children: Natalie, Margie, Theresa, Vincent and Katrina. They later got a divorce and was granted an annulment. JoAnna had different jobs and one of them was a School Secretary for the San Jose Diocese. JoAnna was loving and spunky and funny. She was an avid reader and gifted in writing. She loved Jesus Christ deeply and taught her children about Jesus Christ. God is so loving and He has been so gracious to bless me with my precious Mom whose beautiful name JoAnna means "God is gracious."

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bradley and Margie Yee, and her daughter and son-in-law, Katrina and Phill Simmons, and her daughter, Theresa Norville. JoAnna is preceded in death by her daughter, Natalie Norville, and her son, Vincent Norville. JoAnna has 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on August 13, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church located at 300 East 11800 South, Draper, Utah 84070. A Burial will be immediately followed at Sandy City Cemetery at 700 East 9000 South in Sandy, Utah 84070.

Psalm 116:15 "Precious in the sight of the LORD Is the death of His saints."

Eulogy:

I love my precious Mom, JoAnna, who went to be with our Wonderful Savior, Jesus Christ, in heaven on August 7, 2026. I'm so thankful for her love and kindnesses and loving encouragement! I'm so thankful she taught me and my siblings about our Wonderful Savior, Jesus Christ! I love and miss her so deeply! I take great comfort in knowing she is with our Savior, Jesus Christ, whom she loved deeply. 2 Corinthians 5:8 "We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord." I'm so thankful my Mom is experiencing Psalm 16:11 "You will show me the path of life; In your presence is fullness of joy; At your right hand are pleasures forever."

My Mom was very gifted in writing and here is a poem she wrote about the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

"My Lord Jesus here with you.

In this lonely night of indigo blue.

Remembering how you shed tears of blood Scourged black and blue

Hanging derelict on the cruel wood

Mocked and crowned...

Filled with fright and near despair

There are few who care.

Your beloved apostles took to flight

Cowardly, no fight ignoring your plight

Betrayed by us night & day

"Son of God we say" Come down off the cross now, today.

Judas betrayer, bargaining with a kiss

We neglect, we miss your loving kiss"

I know my Mom loved studying the Bible. I believe the Second Scripture Reading at her Funeral Mass fits in very nicely with my Mom's poem here.

Romans 5:5-11

"Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God , through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation."

I love and miss my precious Mom deeply. It is a great comfort knowing that my Mom loved the Lord Jesus as her Savior! I take great comfort in the truth of this Scripture Reading in Romans 5:5-11 as shared. I'm so thankful for the truth of these Scriptures included in this Scripture Reading in:

Romans 5:8-9 "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him."

I know my precious Mom, JoAnna, would want all of her loved ones to be in heaven with her. Out of love for my Mom and my love for Jesus and others, I'm sharing this Eulogy.

I love how Senior Pastor Greg Laurie of Harvest Christian Fellowship frequently teaches that "Jesus paid a debt He did not owe because we owed a debt we could not pay."

Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."

Please trust and receive His beautiful gift of salvation today. I love this beautiful invitation from Jesus:

Matthew 11:28-29 "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."
